Has anyone ever played OOTP without getting hired?

I'm a fictional player, who has always created a GM, taken control of one team, and set played in commissioner mode, cannot be fired. I've liked the focus of building/overseeing a single organization to see how I compete against other organizations, but also like to be "god" of my universe, and sometimes tinker with things to influence an outcome.

Lately, I've started to wonder if it would be fun to create a persona, start unemployed--and stay that way. I'd operate in Commissioner mode, and occasionally take control of a team ("Act As") when it suits me.

Has anyone played this way? Pros/Cons?

This is what I do for every league I play. I simply create the league and watch the teams and players develop through the years. This is how I get the most enjoyment out of this game. I've always been a stat/career oriented sim/watcher though. I know it isn't for others but ever since I was playing All-Star baseball with those round discs and keep stats for all of the players/cards, I was dreaming of a game like this. And then I discovered OOTP2 and the rest is history...

I bet there are lots of people that don't get hired because they play so much OOTP.

With my ABF league it started in 1876 and i simmed until 2000 when I took over the Chicago Sox. I would rarely intervene in teams affairs but i did bring in clones of real players yearly.

I do that often, in fact I am currently running one right now.

The only time I intervened was I changed a few names, and I manually forced a expansion this year as I want to see some new teams about. The Charlotte Copperheads dynasty is finally aging out so who knows what will happen in that league.
