Huntley's regular season record in 2041-2043: 350-136

Huntley's postseason record in 2041-2043: 0-6

At this point, just winning game 3 would be a monumental achievement for the Red Raiders.

The Frogs finished 103-59 (+217), and only 28 games behind the 131-31 Washington LyinCheatin Senators.

Drew the 87-75 Hampton Roads Rhinos in the Wild Card game and won 3-1 behind Ed Walsh and home field advantage. The Rhinos are an interesting team that is maxed-out for power and doesn't really jump off the page, but they have a PL title to their name. Yep, they won it all 2 seasons ago when they had an RDiff of zero. lol

The reward for winning that game is a matchup with the Senators--a team we have not played well (although I suppose no one can really say they did considering it's a 131-win team). I feel the Frogs have been especially bad in this matchup though. With an 0-2 deficit and the simulation timer ticking down from 5 min, I ask my team if they have any last words...

In the other DS, the 79-win Akron Aeros have a 2-0 lead over the 102-win New York Yankees, and look like they might be the next team to mildly annoy the Senators on their march to a finals matchup with the New Orleans Brees.

Good luck to those still simming!

Here you go. I only have 23 players active right now so you would have to move 2 pitchers over from the reserve roister. Half of the remaining 8 would not be allowed to play the Raccoons.

I am pretty sure we wouldn't do them no harm.

Hey, I have that Gilliam card =)

And I have the better Walter Johnson. Apart from that…

I definitely see the problem with this roster....there are about a dozen players that I need for my team but don't have.

I messed around with my team more than I have in many seasons and the result of all this tweaking was... Just a normal Raccoons season. But I can at least think that maybe we did better due to all the tweaking, even if it didn't help.

I experimented with a 4-man rotation towards the end and I'm not sure if it's a good idea or not. I think I'll try it again next year and see how it goes. I also finally started training some guys to play more positions after not having done this for many seasons. So I'm training Appling to play 2B (so far I've only used him at 3B) and I'm training Ruth to play 1B and I'm finally training Maddox to max him out in all OF positions. I previously was using Maddox as my starting CF, but my acquisition of 100 Mays changed that.

Speaking of Mays, he had a fantastic year and might win the MVP. It's always nice to see a new player play so well. Frank Robinson hit .304 with 40 HRs so he could be in contention as well. In the bullpen, Tom Seaver has been amazing ever since I moved him there. He's won the reliever of the year award 3 times and was robbed last year by his teammate Hubbell (I'm going to log it as a bug - Seaver topped Hubbell in every category of importance except for K/9).

The Raccoons finished strong again this year, but that's because we played mostly our weaker division rivals. We did manage to sweep The Farm Boys in the 1st round, so that's encouraging. But our next opponent will either be Pittsburgh or Bridgeville and they're both better than the Raccoons, but not by too much.

We went 3-4 vs Bridgeville and 3-3 vs Pittsburgh. Pittsburgh has perfect Young, Johnson and Pedro, but their offense is much weaker than Bridgeville's. Bridgeville has the #1 offense and has perfect Johnson and Pedro so I feel like there's not much difference for us here in who we play.

If we can make it to the WS, our chances for 2 straight WS wins look pretty good since the NC doesn't have any strong teams in it. But I don't feel very good about our chances in the LCS.

The final season standings:

I'm not a ballpark savant, by any stretch, but have you experimented with tweaking those? You have some big mashers, but it feels like your team is more balanced than reliant on the long ball. I don't know the def ratings of most of those players off the top of my head (and only have a few on my squad), but tweaking your AVG upwards could boost your run differential. All that said...I'm wrestling with the exact problem you have. I'm regularly turning in seasons of +400 rdiff but always struggle with the best teams in the league in H2H matchups.

Off the schneid!

Finally! My **** works in the playoffs again!

Dare I get greedy and ask for a second straight win? Or do I remain penitent before the Baseball Gods and thank them for this bounty?

Ah, forget it...win game 4! Win game 4! Come on, Red Raiders!

Catching up on this thread...I'm not sure I do anything special. I just let him play every day (leadoff vs R, 8th vs LHP) and of course my ballpark fits his skills (1.1 for LHB AVG & gap, minimum for everything else). His batting average isn't THAT amazing (lifetime .288) but since he gets on base consistently (.350 career OBP in perfect) and plays AMAZING defense, that's where most of the value comes from.

Just checked and confirmed he is still averaging 7 WAR/162 (tops across all 3 of my teams) after 13 seasons in perfect. In terms of batting average though, he is my 3rd worst regular. It's all about the defense & walks.

Decent start to the playoffs a 1 hitter and a 3 hitter, leading to a 3-1 series win, 3 years of failing to win in the silver playoffs comes to an end, Greg Jefferies was of course the Series MVP

the 4th game was notable in that Dihigo got ejected for starting a fight so the AI brought in the 2 way player John Donaldson in CF, he went on to get the game winning rbi

The other series is tied at 2 between the WC team and the team with the best record in the league

Based upon my 2 year experience in the whale league, I'd say that your pitching is your biggest weakness. Aside from Young and Schilling, the rest won't do so well against those great offenses that whales have. Of course, in a short series, having 2 great SPs like you have gives you a good chance.

How's your defense? I'm not familiar enough with all your players to know what their ratings are like.

How's Jackie Robinson's hitting? Appling is only slight inferior at 2B (90 or 91 maxed) and makes for a great leadoff hitter due to getting on base a lot. Even in the whale league he managed to get a .383 OBP (he's been over .400 in the 2 seasons since).

When you play whales, what are the results like? Meaning, are the games usually close or are there lots of blowouts or ...?

Riding the arms of Roger Clemens (23-3, 2.94 ERA, 208K), Jarrod Parker (16-5, 3.25 ERA) and Brandon Woodruff (17-8, 2.93 ERA, 293K) along with the mighty bats of:

Daniel Murphy, Jim Thome, Matt Chapman and Jose Bautista.

Anything less than a WS championship will be disappointing.

Total shock in the city of Dayton. The Lawmen lost the first series 3-2. Dayton dropped the final game 6-5, even with Parker going. He got shelled. Unbelievable.

Thanks. I will think about boosting all of the factors a bit instead of just the HRs. I was 60-21 at home, so there might be room for another 5-10 wins there (Kogarah had 63 home wins and Metheun had 67).

In the end, it was not meant to be...

INKO once again shells Roger Clemens in game 5, winning the game 7-3 and the series 3-2. Hey, at least Huntley got on the board in this series...

Gee, I wonder who the goat was? Hmm...

Game 1
R. Clemens (L, 0-1) 1.1 8 6 6 0 1 0 30 20 40.50

Game 5
R. Clemens (L, 0-2) 2.2 8 6 6 1 0 50 34 27.00

Never once in his 33 starts during the regular season did Clemens last fewer than 5 innings. Playoff baseball...
