Expanding the playoffs?

I’ve been dabbling with the game solo for a few years, playing off and on.

So I created a fictional league starting in 1871 :-) I had the old set up of an American League and National League each with 8 teams, no DH, and the league champions would face each other in the World Series.

After having played with that format in a couple of previous leagues I decided to do this one allowing the league to evolve, which would bring about expansion at times. I’m now up to 1890 and the league has expanded twice. So now there are 10 teams in the AL and 10 teams in the NL. I want to split off into divisions (1969 style) and allow for League Championship Series. I can’t figure out how to do that though.

Is there a way to do that after you have started a league? Basically to create divisions and expand the playoffs after your league has expanded?

I’m 20 years in and would hate to have to restart. I play in GM mode.

Thanks in advance,

Tom

If you're in challenge mode...you're SOL (sort-of outta luck).

If you are NOT in challenge mode... (you will need to be in commissioner mode to do this)

In your MLB Menu, select league settings. Then select edit league structure. Choose Add Division. Name your division. Move your teams as needed.

Wait until preseason and generate or import a new scheduled to match your league structure.

All should be well.

I AM in challenge mode.

What’s the difference? And what are the benefits of challenge mode?

Read here about Challenge Mode:

As far as adjusting the league structure...no way to do it in Challenge Mode. That's locked out by design. Sorry.
