Draft has fewer players available starting in year 57 of league

i started a league with real players only (random) in 1921. I am now up to 1978 and there are only 62 players available to draft. I guess I am running out of players who have not been used at some point.

a few questions:
1. I want to continue at least another 15 years to get through these last real draft classes. is there a way to have fictional players begin to be available? if so, how do I set that?
2. can players come back? for example, Ted Williams in 1921 was 36 years old, so he was only in the game 2 or 3 years.

you could up the number of rounds in your draft. i believe the game will create fictional players to fill those extra slots. (that's under league settings>rules) to the right on Amateur draft settings.

How many rounds are you using in your draft? You shouldn't be running out of players unless you're running huge drafts which isn't necessary with random debut. It isn't necessary for the way I play random debut anyway, which is with an unlimited reserve roster.
