Four news items in three days about my SS Devin Orr may have had random verbiage, but it was pretty funny in an eerie/realistic kind of way.

April 28: Gets six hits.
April 29: Gets five hits. Comes to see me about a new contract.
April 30: Player of the Week story mentions contract controversy.
Good show OOTP, good show!

I had signed Orr as a soon-to-be 33 year-old journeyman to hold the spot for a year, maybe two while a prospect was developing (he regressed, but that’s beside the point). Orr had won two gold gloves, but hit .219 the year before (OPS+: 41) and even spent 40 games at 3A. He was good two years before (OPS+:108) but it seemed he was running out of gas. I gave him $900K for one season with a team option for the same.

He had a career year; won his third GG, first Silver Slugger; .310, 12 HR, 54 2B, 106 OPS+, 4.9 WAR and we won it all.

Now he’s in the option year, which I, of course, had picked up. He wants $15M per, which is not happening, but I thought the whole thing was very entertaining!

This stuff is so immersive. Leagues really come to life when you slow down and pay attention to the details. Thanks for sharing.
