Mac Users Unite

Any other mac users out there that want mods for this great game? Is there a way to get the windows mods compatible? Or are we out of luck?

I have played on a mac all year and not really been able to "get into the game." This past week, I uninstalled and put it on my school computer (windows-based) and it honestly feels like the game is truly made for PC and "just works" on a mac. I would suggest parallels and a copy of windows if you are unlike me and do not have access to a windows platform.

As someone who has been playing on a Mac since OOTP was available on Mac, and enjoying it immensely, what, in your opinion, makes it "just work" on a Mac vs. a PC? I can't think of a single in-game feature we don't have access to, and most of the game add-ons (custom schedules, leagues, databases) do work. At, least, that's been my experience.

I have no idea what this thread is about. All mods work across all versions of OOTP (Windows/OSX/Linux). I hosted the mod website for years, created multiple mods, and it was all done on a Mac!

How do I use them? I am new to this so excuse my ignorance, but I don't see your mods in the add on part of game. When I go to download them from your site and implement them myself it shows up on my Mac as an exe file that I can't open.

Any insight is appreciated.

Mike, I got out of the mod "business" this past year, and am no longer hosting files for OOTP. Charlie Hough took them over at ootpmods.com. That being said, just let me know which particular mod you are trying to install and I will try to help.

I have been using a Mac since version 10. They all work fine for me.

Easy way to load them is thru the game itself.

There is a menu item on the bottom center of the main screen called

Add-ons Central

Click it and it lists all the add ons on the 2 servers. Just click the one you want to download and the click to install.

It is on the startup screen in version 13. You can also get to it from within the game on one of the main menus.

Here is where I get lost Padre....

I just went on OOTPmods and downloaded your stadium image mod.

This is on version 12 btw.

Now I have no idea where to add it into the game.

For the previous poster I don't get any current add-ons to pop up in my adds on central. Just like 5 basic add ons.

It's a .zip file right? I'm hoping that you know how to "unzip" it, because when you do there is a README file with instructions on how to use it. I've copied the instructions from the latest version here. (They are the same for OOTP12, just replace OOTP12 with OOTP13 below where appropriate)

PadresFan's MLB 12: The Show Ballparks for OOTP
Release 2 - 04/01/12

This zip archive contains:

- README file
- parks.dat file
- Classics Folder (Recent and non-so-recent classic ballparks)
- MiLB Folder (Fictional Minor League ballparks)
- MLB Folder (The 30 ballparks in use in 2012)
- Spring Training Folder (Fictional Spring Training ballparks)

Note that all ballparks have day and night images!! (Well, except for the domes of course!)

I have used the parks.dat file that comes with OOTP13, and have set all the ball flight locations. This means that the following attributes have been preconfigured for these 30 ballparks:

- Player Locations
- Ball-Flight Locations
- Ballpark Dimensions and Wall Heights
- Weather
- Park Factors

Of course you can use the other ballpark images with OOTP, but you will need to customize their attributes yourself.

Instructions for existing MLB Quickstart Saved Games
1) Quit OOTP if it is running

2) Copy the individual .jpg image files from the MLB Folder into your Documents/Out Of The Park Developments/OOTP Baseball 13/ballparks folder.

3) Copy the parks.dat file into your Documents/Out Of The Park Developments/OOTP Baseball 13/saved_games/<game_name>/ folder. You may want to backup your existing parks.dat file just in case I screwed something up in the file or in these instructions!!

4) Launch your saved game and enjoy the new ballparks for the MLB teams.

Instructions for creating New Games
This option ensures that when you start a "New 2012 Major League Game" from the main screen, these images and parks.dat file will be used.

1) Quit OOTP if it is running

2) Copy the individual .jpg image files from the MLB Folder into your Documents/Out Of The Park Developments/OOTP Baseball 13/ballparks folder.

3) Copy the parks.dat file into your Documents/Out Of The Park Developments/OOTP Baseball 13/quickstart_games/Majors.quick/ folder. You may want to backup the existing parks.dat file just in case I screwed something up in the file or in these instructions!!

4) Launch OOTP, create a "New 2012 Major League Game" from the main screen, and you should be good to go!!

Your instructions are clear. I just can't find any documents folders on this computer. I downloaded OOTP 12 from the app store...I don't know if this makes any difference.

I'm new to mac's and I can't find any of the document folders on here to drag and drop the stuff into. Not sure what I'm missing.

I appreciate your continued help. Just getting frustrated at my own ignorance.

*edit*

I found folders by going into load game and clicking on open folder.

For OOTP 12 the OOTP Folder is

/Users/yourusername/Library/Application Support/Out of the Park Developments/

The quickest way to the hidden library folder is while in Finder to select the go menu while holding the Option/Alt Key. Library will appear as a destination.
