Some New Looks on the way

It was announced by commissioner Jacques LaChance that many of the Francais Baseball League clubs will be unveiling some new uniforms and logo's in the upcoming future. Many of us think the current ones are just fine, but Mr. LaChance is a very savvy financial expert and hugely responsible for the high points the FBL has reached in such a short history.

The Bandits have been slumping, but not our #1 pick

We're going through what a lot of young teams go through. A slump. We couldn't lose in April and the beginning of May but the losses have piled up of late. Our new catcher and #1 pick, Frederic Legendre, has been doing his best to get us in the win column. He's off to a great start.

St. Anne 2 way player, Blanchard

The way Blanchard has been playing in his 2nd year for the Clippers makes me doubt that we will see him again this season. He's been on a tear. He hasn't pitched much but he has the kind of arm that might allow him to be a two way player for Saint Michel, some day.
St. Anne started out real slowly this season but players like Romaric have given them a legit shot at first.

Another Big L

This game was a tough one for us as Imbert just sailed through our line-up. He's a two way player for the Vultures with hitting supposed to be his strong suit, but you could have fooled us.

However, we got some revenge the next night as our guys ended some recent frustration as we bashed everything they threw at us. Maybe this gets us back on track.

Bandits roll

We got a nice W tonight as Legendre continues to impress. I didn't play in tonight's 11-2 win. There has been a rumor going around the clubhouse the last few days and I'm starting to believe it. The struggling Sebastian Gautier (not to be confused with Sebastian Vautier) is coming to the Bandits and I'm heading to AA. I hear it's a done deal. Wow.

AA Standings

Here are the standings. The Parrots are in last place. Nowhere to go but up. I should know tomorrow as the team has asked me to stop in the office at 9:00 AM. The team plane leaves at 9:30 AM so I'm pretty certain I'm heading to Le Vauclin.

I'm a Parrot

As anticipated, I have been promoted to the Le Vauclin Parrots. Today is July 4th, and an off day. I've been slotted into the rotation on the 5th against the Mad Catz. They have a 32-45 record (like La Vauclin) and are in the cellar in the Central Division.

One other major event to report. The former manager of the Parrots was fired on the 3rd. The report was that he wasn't developing the youth properly. The organization has very strict protocols in place for player development and the guidelines were not being followed. Benoit Mahe, our Bandit Manager, has been promoted to take his place. I guess that's good news for me as Benoit has been a mentor for me right along. We drove to Le Vaculin together today.

Le Vauclin is a small town on the Atlantic side of Martinique situated on the coast. Inland, it's rolling hills are part of the landscape that the banana and plantain industry call home. I've been here lots of times just hanging out with my friends, usually at the ocean. Now it will be my new home.

My 2nd SP start and the games in between

The night after my first start we lost another walk off to the Mad Catz, 4-3. Manager Benoit gave me that night off. Skip says, 'you have to roll with it, boys. Tomorrow is another opportunity.'
And, Skip was right. We took it to the Mad Catz 7-3 the next night to get a little revenge. I went 2 for 5 with a double.
Next the Eclipse came to town for a 3 game set and we won the opener 9-5. I was 1 for 5 including a 2 run homer in the 8th. A loss the next evening, but, in my second start for the Parrots we won 7-3. I gave up a lot of hits but, thankfully, no walks. I was 1 for 3 to raise my Le Vauclin average to .240, and 1-0 on the mound. The box score is below.
The Aveze Archers come to town next. They are the AA ball club for the Cap Chevalier Waves, who are in 2nd place with a 47-44 record at the top level. The Archers are a struggling club with a 36-47 record, good for last in AA.

The Archer 3 game series

Aveze came into Le Vauclin and took two out of three. We scored 14 runs but gave up 20. A total of 5 miscues over the course of the last two games. I had a pretty good series at the plate. Benoit held me out the day after I pitched but I did go 1 for 1 as a pinch hitter.

The one thing I see that we are missing is dependable pitching. Benoit made a point of talking about getting more balls over the plate with less walks. Also, getting ahead on the count. Michel Guyon is our pitching coach in Le Vauclin. This is his first gig and to be honest I think my coach in Basse-Pointe had more ideas on how to pitch than Michel. Christophe Simon definitely had more quality arms to work with than Michel so probably best to hold off judgement. Statistically, we have the worst defense and bull pen. Our SP's come in 8th. However, the Bandits are not much better.
I'm pitching on Sunday, the 2nd day of the Aviator series. They have a 46-40 record and are in second place.
