Historical/fictional deadball league
The Transcontinental Baseball Association just finished its 37th season and we're looking for two new owners heading into the 1907 campaign. The league is a mix of historical and fictional players (in the past it has been mostly fictional but in recent years we've moved to more of an even split) and teams are fictional. Players earn free agency after eight years, scouting is enabled for greater realism, there is a larger universe of independent and international leagues from which players can be purchased, and every four years we have a world cup.
The available teams are Montreal and Baltimore. League rules are here: League Rules and Infos This is a deadball-era league, which means there is very little offense -- low batting averages, hardly any homeruns, not what the typical player would consider exciting. The challenge of this league is putting together a team that can win in those conditions: pitching, defense, and yes, there are some very good hitters out there, and you need them to succeed. This is a unique league that will give you a very different experience from other leagues. We have a tight-knit core of owners, many of whom have been around since the beginning, and I have to be honest and say new owners often don't last because the league wasn't what they were looking for or the learning curve was too steep. Some of them do stick around, and when they do, they typically stay for a long time. Please consider whether this is the right league for you. If history and the deadball era interests you, then you'll be a good fit. Please respond to this thread or contact me by PM with your preferred team.
