Free Agents that can't be signed?

I'm looking for players to fill out my rosters. There are lots of unattached players with good potential ratings, but when I click on the Action tab, there is no option to sign them or offer minor league contracts. Why is this?
And is there any way to filter them out of a player search?

I have never seen this.
Did you accidently select "View Draft Pool" by accident? or "Show All Players"?
I cannot think of any settings that would make players unsignable.

No. Just did a standard player search. Might have to post a screen grab. The players are all young, eldest being about 21, and their contract status says they have Major League contracts, but with no team, and with -1 years remaining.

Also, when you filter search results based on potential rating, what is the scale? I assumed it was 1 - 5, like the stars on the side, but that doesn't work. But it isn't out of 20 either.

What does their Player Profile screen say? On the left about 1/2 way down the team they are on should be shown in the info section.

a "standard player search" is not enough info.
What screen are you on?
Show all Players?
Free Agents?
Draft Pool?
Did you use the player search function?

What View/Filter are you using?
It seems like you are either in the wrong screen or you have some info that is not being included in your view.

It depends on the Ratings scale you are using. If you are using Stars it should be Stars unless the view you are using does not show OVR or POT.
I do not use Stars so there may be some funky Star filter thing I do not know about.

This may not be relevant, but guys who get drafted and don't sign re-enter the draft next year. In the meantime, they show up as unowned free agents who cannot be signed. They are often studs in terms of their potential. And, of course, they are always young.
