Oh no, what happened?? Attn: Markus / Devs??

I was in my game, in like 2060... I went to save my file, and my computer crashed... The continue game is greyed out, and my save file is gone...

Please dont say I lost my league I've been playing since day 1 that O20 came out... there isnt anything under the restore option either.

What can I do?

All my saves are gone... :'(

When I go to load game, open folder, and go up once to the saved games directory, it shows my phils19.lg, and files, but no way to load anything?

Sounds like a corrupt file. Easiest way to determine if it is would be to try to copy the file to a different location (like on a different drive). Corrupt files usually can't be copied over, or accessed.

If the file is indeed corrupt, hopefully you have a backup. If not from within OOTP, then from a backup software of some sorts, Windows restore etc.

Apparently your file is corrupt and if you don't have any backups there is not much you can do - keep your fingers crossed that Markus and his team can do magic.

But it can't be said often enough ... backup your files

This post was stickied back in OOTP17, but it should be moved each year once the new version comes out.

PSA: Back up your leagues!

I use the "zip-method" and didn't have the slightest problems.

Do you see the world.dat file in the League.lg folder? I had a similar thing - crashed while saving, and when I restarted the game, the League was not an option to chose from in the Open dialog.

Not sure this will work but worth a try...

First, make a copy of what you have so that anything you might try to recover doesn't mess up what you might have.

Now, look in your league.lg folder and and see if there is a folder called 'auto-save'. If there is look in that folder.

If there are files there you can try copying them to your league.lg folder (you should make a copy as I stated above before doing this).

Once the files are copied from the 'auto-save' folder to your league.lg folder you can try opening your league in-game again.

Can you tell me the file path to the saved game you're trying to load? What folder is it actually in on your system?

Then try going to OOTP, go to settings > troubleshooting > open folder containing saved games.

What path is revealed when that opens, can you let me know that as well? Is it the same as where your save is physically located, or is it different?

Uh... what? Sorry lol.

C:\Users\admin\Documents\Out of the Park Developments\OOTP Baseball 20\saved_games

C:\Users\admin\Documents\Out of the Park Developments\OOTP Baseball 20\saved_games\phils19.lg\

So when I go to settings, troubleshooting, open folder containing saved games, it goes to the same location and lists a bunch of saves with numbers, and then my 3 league files I was using
C:\Users\admin\Documents\Out of the Park Developments\OOTP Baseball 20\saved_games

When I open the league file that I want to load, it lists the folders and only one other file, textdata.dat

Now when I open the league file for the one I created last night, post crash, it lists the directory, plus 17 other data files..

Hope that helps.

*****UPDATE*****
I believe everything is back to normal.

So what I did.

With the league file I created last night, I copied the whole folder.
Then, what I did was take the league files from my old league, and copy&replaced them and put them in the newly created folder.

I went in and loaded this merged league.

From what I can tell, everything is loaded fine. Rosters look like how I left them, its even right before the playoffs like my last save.

So *knock on wood* everything seems alright.

I can tell you for future references that I had a crash during a save and used my auto-save files to recover my game. That's an alternative recovery.
