Challenge Mode--1st rd pick retires immediately?
I started a challenge mode for the 91 Giants simply to get a pack of cards for Perfect Game, and got into it (no surprise) so I'm in season 3. I let Will Clark and Juan Samuel (lol) walk so received two comp picks.
Pick 1.14, took RF Phil Clark (80contact / 65 power / 50 eye / 60 def). I was blown away. A max contact guy at pick 14? Awesome. Now where do I play him with Kevin Mitchell in left and Rickey Henderson in right? Maybe I'll shop and get some pitching? Signs his contract....and the next day retires. I've never seen this. ONE darn day after signing he stinkin retires. "Wanted to go back and play basketball...." I love you OOTP, you never cease to surprise me even when the surprise stinks |

Minnesota (AI) drafted a player:
1) 90 contact, 61 power, 35 Eye, 60 K's with defense of 82 (LF), 75 (RF), 70 (2B), 74 (3B), 53 (SS.) So, a 70/80 second baseman. Yes, he played 3B and won the Gold Glove in his league at third. Projected MLB: 26 HR, .320 BA, .540 Spct. But wait... 2) 88 Fastball (101 MHP), 107 Curveball, 62 Change, 74 stamina. He was rated 79/80 as a starting pitcher. Projected: IP -248, Hits -178, BB -76, Ks -248, ERA 2.54, FIP 2.61, WAR 8.4. Minnesota drafted him 1st (1st overall.) (He declined.) Next year, Minnesota drafted him again 1st (now, 2nd overall.) Signed for $4.7 million. He played 2 months in A ball, then retired to go to the NFL. Last edited by Drstrangelove; 12-28-2018 at 10:57 AM. |

Storylines suck. They're almost as bad as league evolution.

I have a fictional league using historical players. 1st overall pick one year was Frankie Frisch by a team in my division . He plays 1 year of A ball fand retires to play football. I thought that was pretty cool. Another year I took Herb Score 2nd overall. He blows out his shoulder 2 starts into his 2nd year and had to retire @ 20.
