Formula For Rating Teams?

Greetings,

Is there a Bill James formula where you can rate teams based on Wins/Losses, Runs Scored?

I have a basic one where I take Wins/Games x 162 to get a level field from teams from 1960 and before with teams from today and I take runs scored and runs against and do the same, I then add those together. It's pretty basic, anyone know of anything a little more detailed?

Thanks!

I guess this will serve my purpose. I took the AL teams from 1901-1910 that had .500 or better records and ranked them using the formula I described above. The question now is what should be the cutoff point, 250 points? Any team that is over 240 should be considered?!

Thanks!
