graphics programs..............

Just out of curiosity, what programs do you guys use to make logos/jerseys, etc.? I may be looking into buying one if they aren't too expensive.

GIMP is free.

Here's a list of options.

Vector-based

• CorelDraw (full version -- not academic -- of CD Graphics Suite -- including PhotoPaint, Capture, etc. -- can be purchased for ~$100US on eBay if you watch carefully); powerful program and very comparable to AI

• Adobe Illustrator (academic version can be found for ~$100US); very powerful program and often considered the benchmark of vector-based programs

• Inkscape (free); not as robust as the above, but for the basics, should do just fine

• DrawPlus (free); from FreeSerif; again, not as robust as the above, but for the basics, should do just fine

Raster-based

• CorelPhotoPaint (part of the CorelDraw Graphics Suite package; see above); powerful program and very comparable to AP

• Adobe Photoshop (full non-academic version over $250US); very powerful program and like AI, considered the benchmark of raster-based programs; many plugins (for effects) are designed with AP in mind

• GIMP (free); not as robust as the above; but for the basics -- as evidenced by the many users around here -- it can get the job done

• PhotoPlus (free); another FreeSerif program; again, not as robust, but will do the basics very well

Good luck ... and if you have any specific questions, ask away ... there are many users of the various products on these boards (maybe not the FreeSerif products ... not seen anyone actually mention these in use here, but you never know).
