Can anyone explain why the Blues fans are singing John Denver's "Country Roads" song?

Anyway, best of 3 now.

Good to hear those victory songs! Best two out of three falls now. Don’t let me down, Blues.

Haven't been to a Blues game since Game 7 of the Western Conference semifinals against the Blackhawks in 2015.
There were a couple of lean years there, and this one didn't start out too hot.

Won't be going to Game 6 either, prices jumped from $1,600 to $2,500 on Stub Hub immediately after Game 5 ended.
But as for the Take Me Home Country Roads singalong, I think it is something that started this season probably about the time the team began its turnaround.
They play the song following a time out early in the third period. The first two thirds plays over the PA, action resumes on the ice, and the fans do the final verse and chorus on their own.
Like the Bruins fans were doing Living on a Prayer tonight, I believe that also was in the third period.
LGB!!!!-- Make sure we close it out Sunday night.

One more, just one more! It would be just like this team to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory, though. Don't. Just don't. Get 'er done at home in Game Six. Please.

Another garbage performance in the clutch. They really need to get out of this stupid “just happy to be there” mode and bear the hell down. Berube’s comments make me think they won’t. Way to blow the best opportunity you’ll ever get. No way these pieces of garbage win Game 7 on the road unless they extract their heads from their asses.

I am so afraid tonight was the Blues chance and they just pissed it away. Afraid to take penalties, they were not the physical team they have been in the games they have won this postseason.
And while the spent plenty of time in the Bruins zone, most of their shots were straight on at Rask, who not only playing at a high level but also had almost no one in a Blue sweater in front attempting to screen him.
How it ended also concerned me, a couple of stupid penalties -- post whistle punches -- could show the Blue being on the verge of unraveling on a big stage.
They have not been there before. Most of the Bruins have.
Game 7 could be ugly, and yet another Boston coronation.

I don't think any of the Blues have any donkeys. I don't think it's a matter of just being happy to be in the finals. Rask was clearly on. Boston has strongly dominated special-teams play this series. The Blues need to stop taking penalties and the officiating needs to be better than it has been this series. They've missed several calls this series that probably should have been called, at least in the games I've seen in it. We need to find a way to give JB more help, to do better on special-teams play, and avoid needless penalties. Otherwise, Boston will win, it seems. CD out.

I think the Blues were scared to get penalties because (1) the Bruin PP has been downright lethal, (2) a terrible missed call in the Blues favor was the talk of the last game, (3) NHL coaches have taken a cue from NBA HC's and worked the refs. The Blues complained and got the zebras to swallow the whistles according to the Bruins, post game 5.

You could see a setup coming where the Blues were going to get scrutinized early. St.Louis was probably aware of that & didn't play their game.

Nice to see Boston fans getting out of the parking lot early for a change.

At ten minutes left in every home game, that want the Blues to "take me home."

Essentially, they are asking the Blues to close it out.

WHEEEEEEEEEE!!!!

...ARE THE CHAMPIONS, MY FRIENDS!!!!

YES! Finally, one Stanley Cup before I die. GLORIA! Blue World Order 4 Life, baby!

Next best thing to winning the Cup? Seeing that punk Marchand cry.. Nice of the Blues to give a gift to the rest of the non-Boston NHL fandom, huh? May the tears give you life.

Never thought they could do it after Game 6. These guys never did it the easy way, but they did it. Gotta love this team.

Updated list of personal saviors:

1) Jesus Christ
1a) Jordan Binnington

O'Reilly did deserve the Smythe more, though. Binnington had too many games where he came out flatter than a week-old Pepsi there towards the end, but he got it done when it counted.

Nothing better than winning a Cup. Maybe Toronto or Buffalo or Vancouver, or one of the other long-suffering teams will get it done in the next few years. Good luck, but for now, victory is dressed in Blue.

Holy crap. They fricking did it.
Watched the game at Busch Stadium, even on the jumbo tron it was tough to find the puck at times and the sound system in Redbird Club was not turned up loud enough to really hear. Especially, as the game went on and it became more apparent things were going to go the Blues way.
But it was an electric atmosphere and the fans were troopers sitting through two rain showers.
I moved to StL in 2001, and while baseball is my hardcore sport I do follow the Blues, know the team and understand the game.
So it was a sureal experience and one I am glad to took part in.
But to see fans in tears who have followed the franchicse since its inception in the mid-1960s, it wasn't hard to follow them down that same trail.
By the way, before Game 6, there was a commercial where they showed Blues anthem singer Charles Glenn at a STL hospital singing Gloria to a group of newborns. The Stanley Cup also was in the room.
One of the babies was Vladdy Tarasenko's son and the one next to him was the grand daughter of the woman who sat next to me during the game. Her grand daughter certainly has a memory for a life time.

Congrats, Blues fans. It was a long time coming. As a Bruins fan, this one is going to hurt for a while.
