Does ballpark size matter in regards to defense?

Being a Reds fan, everyone always says how Great American Ballpark is one of the worst places for Billy Hamilton to play because he can't take full advantage of his range. People also think it's good for Jesse Winker because helps hide his lack of good range.

Does the game factor this in at all? I know there are the park factors that affect home run, double, and triple totals. Does defense get affected by this at all though? For example, if Billy Hamilton played in San Francisco, I know he wouldn't literally play better, but he would be much better than other players who played there, where as in Cincinnati he is only somewhat better. Does the game factor in defense in relation to park size to trade value, or even just performance like in real life?

I've been wondering this for a year or two now and was wondering what you all thought. Thank you very much!

The size as such, no. We don't have a physics based engine yet, so the size of a park is really just cosmetic.

But what does affect this are the ballpark factors, which are based on the real life factors. And those are heavily influenced by the size of the park among other things.

So it's too simple just to say yes or no to answer your question. The real answer is more like yes, to an extent depending on how much the size of the park affects the real life ballpark factors.
