Draft Pick Trading
I am considering allowing draft picks to be traded because my league (18 teams, two CPU teams) simply does not trade. Teams are stacked (especially in the outfield) and lesser teams have no recourse. I am suspecting that if I allowed for draft picks to be traded, it will increase trading.
What are some of the pitfalls? Thanks! |

The only major pitfall we've seen is if a team trades away a lot of high draft picks and then leaves the league. It can leave the next GM in a tough position. You can mitigate this by only allowing trading of picks in the next draft.

Only allow draft choices to be traded in the currently year, and initially(that means at the beginning), make it mandatory that a team has to keep either their first or second draft pick. So if I trade my first draft pick away, I cannot trade my second, but I could trade my third or fourth, etc. I would also only allow the top four or five picks to be traded. One league I was in only allowed teams to trade a maximum of two picks each season, and they had to keep either their first or second.
