I think the Salem Witches need to be rebranded as the Cleveland Spiders...

The problem with the Tacoma Aroma is obvious.... THEY STINK!

[note: this is a joke on the team name and not an actual evaluation of talent or anything else, so no offense intended!]

Palolo, Kaneohe, Aina Haina, and Ewa Beach all stuck in limbo with no PP to spend. Sigh. Time to open packs and hope for a miracle? Btw, have you guys been following our Hawaii little league team? They play in the U.S. championship tomorrow.

The Canadian team had a player named Beef Dip. He's a Babe Ruth in the making... struck out 13 guys and hit a homer in the Canadian finals to make the tournament.

Hawaii has a very good team. I have watched them since Regional. Louisiana is very good also. Hawaii will have to contend with Reece Roussel who has hit everything in sight. Three doubles and a grand slam last night and he was already the leading hitter in the LLWS. It is going to be great tomorrow, no doubt.

How many OL teams have a shot at moving up to Perfect?

Depends on your criteria but there are 7 teams (Blitzkreig, Seattle ES, Cincinnati, Hampton Roads, Green Lake, Pablo, Transylvania) with a 50% chance or better of making the playoffs with a month to go.

If you expand that to everyone on the Playoff Tracker, there are 4 more teams, with Annandale (33%), Redmond Defenders (4.6%), Roncalli (3.9%) and Redmond Crusaders (0.8%) added into the mix.

not a perfect game/no-hitter; but a sweet performance from Waffletown's Lefty Gomez that added a cool 8000 points to the coffers:

(side note: hey Cigar City, could you lose some games? My boys went 20-7 in August and only picked up a few games in the standings.... and are still closer to the division lead than a wild card spot)

Rustlers Slip by Robins as Gamblers Slide in OL S262

Terra Incognita, 11-5, was just slightly better than Rockin', 12-7, to sneak into the top spot, while Las Vegas, 5-7, fell to fourth behind the hot Antique Bulldogs, 10-3. Woodinville, 10-6, and Everett, 8-5, remained in the hunt with a busy slate of OL games still to play. See the following post for more details.

OLTV Ratings Set for Sharp Increase in September

With OL games on tap everyday through season's end, and the top seven each playing at least 10 games, the accounting department at OLTV is sporting a sanguine outlook regarding ad revenues. "The race is wide open," said OLTV Chief Financial Officer, Penny Saver, "so we're hoping for a tight battle down the stretch. Should be a good one for the fans, and the network's coffers."

Perfect league update:

Southern's lead all but evaporates as the Quantum Condors soar through August and pull within .004 of the OL lead; and Victoria hot on their heels as well.

And it's worth more points than either of them.

D381 Update

Hampton Roads on top in Diamond as race heads to the finish line

Most of the teams played .500 ball in August, but Hampton Roads did a wee bit better, going 10-8. That was good enough to take the lead in Diamond.

Non-OL Playoff News
  • Blitzkreig has a slim lead in the AC East
  • Cincinnati has a comfortable lead in the AC West
  • Seattle leads the AC wildcard chase, and Annandale has a shot at the second spot
  • Hampton Roads leads the NC East
  • Green Lake has a commanding lead in the NC Central
  • Transylvania has a small lead in the NC West
  • Pablo holds the second NC wildcard spot
So it appears we will have seven to eight OL teams in the playoffs.

Cooper sits in a relegation spot but it's not over until it's over!

OL Results fo Bronze, Iron

With only three teams in I150, there will be no crown, but I still need someone to compile the OL games. Also ,at the very least, it would be nice to have the screen shots for the OL team vs. team in bronze sent to kidheckett@gmail.com. The three teams that missed bronze OL all ended up in different leagues. Anyone know what the story is with the Seattle Pilots in D352? They've not been pulled into OL the past three or four seasons.

And I didn't even have to look to know who it was against. The Hatchets have been perfectly dreadful and are scrambling to stay out of relegation status. Their bullpen has been a pile of flaming garbage and their offense has been thoroughly offensive. Even Walter Johnson has a losing record!

As tempting as it would be to tank and go back to Diamond for a few seasons, we're trying to tough this one out.

I'll get 'em.... wasn't many OL games in Iron, so figured I'd just wait until they were all played before posting an update

Speaking of not-a-no-hitter-but-impressive, check out this game in Perfect OL by a non-OL team, the Fayetteville Woodpeckers (who are among the worst records in the league). Mort Cooper actually pitched 11 innings(!) of no-hit ball, and was finally pulled after letting up a single in the top of the 12th. His team won, but he didn't get the pitcher W. Insane.
