How to create a sort-of-historic league?

I'm using OOTP13, version 10.

What I mean by the subject line is this: specifically, I want to create a game that uses the American, National, and Federal League teams from 1914, but merge the Federal League teams into the American and National Leagues, creating two leagues of twelve teams each. An historic game isn't right since that limits the players and teams to the year specified. A fictional league isn't right either since that uses fictional players. And the third option (standard league?) seems to use fictional players also.

That leaves me scratching my head as to how to make this amalgam of historic and fictional leagues. By the way, since I'm quite new to this, the more detailed any guidance might be the better. I wouldn't assume I know squat apart from how to open OOTP.

Oh, one other thing: I haven't found the Federal League at all. Some help on that specific item would be very welcome.

Thanks very much.
