Adding OBJ ID 's to existing CAT ID 's

Hi,

If I want to add additional personality descriptions (or any kind of extra text in general) to the game. Can I simply copy and existing OBJ ID, give it a new numerical value and then edit the new text inside the english.xml file?

Existing in English.xml:
HTML Code:
<CAT id="704">
     <OBJ id="26320" text="A baseball rat, he's the first one to the park each day and the last one to leave."/>
</CAT>

My Addition:
HTML Code:
<CAT id="704">
     <OBJ id="26320" text="A baseball rat, he's the first one to the park each day and the last one to leave."/>
     <OBJ id="99998" text="A baseball gazelle, he takes Viagra before each game."/>
     <OBJ id="99999" text="A baseball manatee, he's the first one to the park on Tuesdays."/>
</CAT>

I'm not 100% sure, but I think your additions should work. Just backup the original file before you try it.

I uploaded 1 line with an obj I'd set to 5000 and it worked. I have now started adding extra rows to cat ids

Do you mean 50000? It'd probably be safer to go with even higher numbers.

And be aware that you'll have to make the same additions by hand whoever the English.xml file is officially updated.

Yes, that was a typo.

The game is crashing when I remove existing lines, so I do see that I would most likely always have to replace the default english.xml file with mine.

I've been watching too much Westworld and am looking at ways to "humanify" the game more, so if this doesn't prove effective I may have to look elsewhere.

Unfortunately this project will have to be suspended. I keep running into parsing errors and have been pretty diligent about checking for typos and errors.

I added 1 line and it worked, but every time I add multiple lines to multiple CAT the game crashes.

andjbock, why don't you send a PM to endgame (a super-friendly, jack-of-all-trades, no-worries guy)? He's added some text to the seventh-inning stretch category. Maybe he can diagnose your problem.
