Question about Manager Personality and Allowing GM interference
I always played GM+Manager but this year wanted to play GM only, which I have never done and I had a question about GM’s still getting to tinker with a manager’s lineups/staff/decisions. I would prefer to still from time to time make some decisions and set some lineups but for the most part let my manager do it. My manager is personable and has a green dot next to all in game strategy stuff, meaning he will allow me to meddle. Which is exactly what I want. My question is, do managers change? If I start having success as a franchise and my manager gets older, could he basically just refuse to ever let me meddle in the lineup/staff from time to time? Or does their personalities stay pretty consistant and as long as I keep this guy as my manager, I’ll be able to tinker as much or as little as I want with lineups.
Thanks! |

From what I’ve seen in all of my games, the managers personalities do not change much over time, you should be able to do what you want to continually.

Sweet thanks. As virtual Farhan Zaidi, I guess I'll be keeping Gabe Kapler as my manager until he retires then.

Under Game Settings, Global Settings there is a box titled "GM-only users are always in control of lineups (legacy-mode) that if clicked will always allow you to make changes and override the manager.
This is especially helpful when your AI manager keeps insisting on batting your crippled catcher who has an on-base percentage under .200 who also can't run or steal from hitting leadoff or in the top 3 positions.

Yes, in the legacy mode you can intervene wherever you want. While I prefer to be only the GM, it's useful to be able to override managers now and then, particularly in the minor leagues, where they seem far more interested in winning games than in developing talent.
