Updating this post -
We have a great core group and the races are coming down to the wire This is a league for those that like the challenge of doing your own work, not relying on history or the AI to do it for you - we are not interested in repeating history - we are looking to create our own as we move on. Interesting findings - The Leagues Overall ERA Leaders Larry Jansen (2.531) - Santa Clara BC Sal Maglie (2.78) - Camaguey 1528 Warren Spahn (3.20) - Harbor Athletic Ewell Blackwell (3.23) - Center City BC "Lefty" Chambers (3.27) - Mexico City BC As noted this is a stats only league - It was done this way to allow the league to get away from trying to recreate years and expectations and to think outside the baseball norm - It allows you to put together a team based on research not ratings If you have interest visit the website - go to the sign up page and join us http://baseball-association.com/Baseball-Association/ |

Excellent core group assembled. It's been a lot of fun making our decisions without the stars and number ratings, a first time experience for most, if not all, of us. We have an excellent web site that's evolving all the time, stats+, and the pace is nice and relaxed (weekends off).

It's a close one !!
Coming down to the last two weeks of the season... And is it getting tight ..
Tier 1 finds Deportivo Panama City holding a slim 1 game league (with 14 left to play) over a surging Harbor Athletic Club and Unidad Federales - the three are locked up in a sprint for the Tier 1 cup Tier 2 still finds themselves in the 1-2 teams that started the season 1-2 Camaguey 1528 of the Caribbean League is walking away with the Tier title and promotion - They are also still holding on to a 3 game lead and best overall record (which gives a bye till the semi-final of the Duvray Cup) Second spot Club Caracas has seen it's hold on 2nd promotion spot slip away as they now find themselves in a battle with Kingston Caneros for the #2 place Tier 3 - Has seen the race tighten and then loosen as Magnolia City of the American Circuit had overtaken Los Antville early on and has not looked back - But the real battle has been for the 2nd promotion spot as Santa Clara BC has managed to keep the pressure on - Magnolia City is now trying to fend off challenges from both - as they hold 1 game lead over Los Antville and 6 over Santa Clara with 14 games left - Magnolia City is also trying to hold on to it's 3 game lead for the #2 overall spot Coming down to the wire - with teams still open - Now would be a great time to join with he draft coming up and a chance to change a teams fate for 1951 |

Been in this league since it started and it is fantastic. Commish is top notch with great details and communication. Good amount of GM's with good banter, good communication and a lot of fun. Challenging and gives a historical a different feel instead of the same ole same ole. If you want a challenge and to have some good fun this is the league for you.

What a Finish !!
The conclusion of the 1950 season proved to be full of excitement and tension for GM's in the Association as the Champions were crowned and promotion - relegation and cup teams were all decided..
Tier 1 Champion Deportivo Panama City (49-35) of the Caribbean League was able to go on an 8-2 run over the last 10 games to win the crown by 3 games over hard charging Center City (46-38) and Unidad Federales (46-38) - Deportivo will join Center City, Unidad and Harbor Athletic Club in the Round Robin Playoff for the chance to advance to the Duvray Cup Tier 2 Champion Camaguey 1528 (59-25) also of the Caribbean League mad it look easy all season as they jumped off to an early lead and never looked back as they easily won the crown by a 16 game margin. Club Caracas (43-41) did yeoman's work finishing second and gaining promotion as they not only tried to keep pace with Camaguey but had to fend off the battle between Kingston (42-42) and Highlands (40-44) who were all within a couple games down the stretch. Camaguey and Caracas will be joined by kingston and The Highlands for their round robin and the invite to the Duvray Cup Tier 3 Champion Los Antville (57-27) of the American Circuit fought in possibly the closest races of the season - falling behind early to Magnolia City (56-28) who lead the tier most of the season to win the title on the last game of the season. This was not just a two team race as Santa Clara (48-36) kept pressure on both teams for the second spot until they faded slightly near the end. Los Antville will join Magnolia City, Santa Clara and San Juan* 1509 (42-42) for the tier round robin and a possible spot in the Duvray Cup IN PLAYER NEWS TIER 1 Duke Snider of Harbor Athletic was able to win the batting crown with a .429 average Del Ennis of Deportivo Panama City lead the Tier in home runs with 25 Ewell Blackwell of Club Center City was able to out duel Warren Spahn for the ERA title with 2.678 (Blackwell also led the tier in wins with 12) Warren Spahn of Harbor Athletic lead the tier with 75 strikouts TIER 2 Bob Elliot of club Caracas lead the tier in almost all batting categories but won the batting crown with a .380 average Johhny "Big Cat" Mize of Club caracas lead the tier in home runs with 29 Bill Werle of Camaguey 1528 led the tier in ERA with 2.958 Larry Brunke of La Nouvelle-Orleans United led the tier with wins at 20 (Brunke also led the league with hit batters at 19) Early Wynn of* Club Caracas led the tier in strikeouts with 157 TIER 3 Stan "The Man" Musial of Los Antville won the tier batting title with a .433 average Ted "The Splendid Splinter" Williams led the tier in home runs with 35 Larry Jansen of Santa Clara BC won the era title with a 3.221 ERA Whitey Ford of Santa Clara BC led the tier in wins with 14 Max Lanier of Los Antville led the tier in strikeouts with 117 We still have some open teams for the rest of 1950 and as we head into the draft and 1951 season - a chance to turn around the future of one of these squads - Still some good rosters are open |
