Expensive Contracts
Hope someone can help. I have a couple of older players with very expensive contracts. I need to reduce payroll.
I want to trade them but not surprisingly no other team wants them. What other options should I be considering? Thanks for any guidance. |

It's may not clear as much payroll space as you'd like, but it's better to have to pay $20m a year instead of $40m. |

Some options for you.
1. Include prospects 2. Eat some salary 3. Trade for players with same high salaries but less years. I recommend number 3 as the most viable. If someone has 4 years left trade them for maybe someone with 2 years. |

The only other option I could give is to waive/dfa them if you don't necessary need/want anything in return. If someone claims them, they claim the entire contract too.

I thought that when a team grabbed someone from waivers, the original team still had to eat the contract, minus league minimum, which the new team paid.
