Season 14 (2032) Discussion: 3/4/19 - 3/10/19

The team that beat me in the WC, that finished 9 games below me in the standings is in my division this season. Time for some revenge!

my team went 128-34 then lost again in the playoffs. probably deserved since I dont have time to manage on sundays and just let it ride with the same season rotation

time for a fourth week in bronze lol. maybe I can break 130 with a beneficial rand

is there a PP bonus for playing in higher leagues? otherwise I might just keep staying down here and keep racking up the points. its nice coming come from work and seeing i've earned 10K in a day

I'm thrilled that I was the champion of my Diamond League last week, but I'm going to get slaughtered in Perfect. My team is actually quite mediocre, but we got hot in the playoffs. Pulling my first perfect card (1995 Randy Johnson) right before the playoffs probably helped too.

Since the team has started a humdrum 5-6 in Silver, I decided to try to improve team morale by overhauling our team logos. Gone is the generic Sidewinder S, say hello to the classic Tucson Sidewinder:

Kinda hard to get the ratio right on 10 letter word, but I'm going to say it's close enough. Hopefully Fred McGriff will start hitting over .200 now that he's got some retro throwback digs.

Congrats! What was your record last season? I'll be interested to see how you do in Perfect. Last two seasons at Diamond I've snuck into the postseason with less than 90 wins and made it to the Sub-League Series before losing in 7 games. Quite happily, really, as I also think my lads will get slaughtered in Perfect.

This year we're trying something new. A 4-man rotation, 7-man bullpen, with 2 SP as relievers. That means I can run an extra platoon (1B). We shall see what happens

Expos and Penny are bad for the last two season, decided to open some pack after selling Jose Fernandez 17K. after 10 very bad pack, I opened a very good one with 2 diamond and one rare...Treinen and Strasburg for Diamond and a gold Bret Boone.

its happen often two diamonds in a pack?

I was 86-76, but 11-3 in the playoffs. I'm 7-12 so far in Perfect - not looking good.

Off to a 15-12 start in Diamond; J.D. Martinez won Batter of the Month, but I wonder how much he costs me by playing leftfield.

Well, I can't decide whether I should ditch Votto or Goldschmidt to get him to DH......

I have just realized my diamond league only has 20 teams in it...

I like that positivity!

I was thinking more along the lines that if something went pear-shaped a slap-bang demotion might be in the cards

The Sidewinders are an absolutely torrid 22-7 since they brought in the throwback uniforms. Get out of the way high movement pitchers, the new meta is changing your logo during a cold streak.

But seriously, look how happy Didi Gregorius is in his new uniform:

In the wild card mix in a league that seems to contain an infinite amount of vaguely 30-24 teams. This will go so well …!

The sidewinders continue a very solid silver league debut sitting at 57-38, and much like last season it's based on strong defense and pitching. What's strange is that it's most the relievers that are making up for what has been a very inconsistent rotation. We're seventh in starter ERA but we're 1st in reliever's, and it has a lot to do with Closer/High Leverage reliever Vic Raschi, who's just put up some seriously filthy numbers heading into the all-star break.

Also another inspiring George Vukovich update. Outperforming nearly all the gold and silver batters on my team, because why shouldn't a 62 OVR be your most consistent player. Line him up against righties and pencil in a .300/.350/.420 line.

I have a Corey Kluber with 14 wins and a 3.48 ERA at the All-Star break and he didn't make the All-Star team. He leads the league in wins.

After a 19-8 June and a 20-5 July the Yaks have finally overcome another stumbling start. It seems every season lately I have to blast into the locker room throwing trash cans and screaming about lollygagging around to get us out of our doldrums. Luckily I have seen Zorro use a similar approach and decided to try his management technique. It has worked well but my wife thinks I may blow a gasket.

Baseball is a truly beautiful game where we can always look forward to tomorrow on the stormy days.

my team has been performing way worse on offense this season. I have almost entirely left handed power hitters plus some defensive right handed ground ball contact guys, so I changed my park splits for the first time and set to max LHB HR and min RHB HR. makes sense

however, that sets the "overall park HR" factor to less than one (i guess based on expecting more RHB at-bats over a season). so now I think that the game uses that overall rating first to modify the total number of HR hit in the park, and then only after that distributes those HR among LHB and RHB. maybe this is common knowledge, kind of like how avoid K is mostly useless since the game already determined if there was going to be an out and it just impacts the type of out.
