My pack-only team, the Port Washington Pack Rats, just got swept out of the DS in Gold. They took 6 of 7 from their opponent during the regular season, but couldn't continue that domination in the postseason. Probably for the best, as they're definitely not Diamond League material yet.

All right! Our unlikely playoff push continues. After spending most of the season under .500 (heck, I remember looking up what the relegation rules were), finishing with a 3-way tie for the wild card, needing extra innings to get passed the wild card game, the Laser Kiwis mounted a comeback from 2-0 down to move on to the Sub League Series.

The results are in! In a series that between two teams separated by single game in the standings, it was inevitable that it would be tied going into the 9th. 4-4, Tucson bats top of the inning. Hack Wilson faces down Tom Gordon and works a full count before grounding out. Chipper Jones grounds out. Phil Rizzuto is taken out for Pinch Hitter Shohei Ohtani and he hits a line drive... straight to Mitchell Page.
Ok, still tied going into the bottom of the ninth. I haven't told you this but Briar stadium is as extreme split towards Lefties as is allowed, which is fine because Mark W. Davis is a pretty good LHP closer. Somewhat terrifying that my Gold Glove Rizzuto is now on the bench and Eddie Collins Sr. has come in on 2nd, but I suppose that'll happen. Anthony Rizzo takes the ball for a ride but comes up short. Sammy Sosa is down 0-2 and it looks like the game is about to go extra innings. Then everything just goes to hell. Sammy "Goddamn" Sosa is about to go down in Tucson history. Sosa doesn't care that he's got a 30 Avoid K rating, Sosa doesn't care he has 178 Ks, which nearly matches his combined hits and walks (196) this season, he takes 4 straight balls and walks. Not the end of the world but it's a deciding game, so Dennis Martinez, #2 starter, all around great guy, comes in. Ball, Strike to Wilson Ramos, then Sosa is at it again, taking advantage of Martinez's Laissez faire approach to holding runners he steals second. Jody Davis, with two errors in 556 IP and a decent 48% CS, overthrows Eddie Collins Sr. and Sammy Sosa motors over to 3rd, smirking the entire way. Wilson Ramos is walked and Miguel Cabrera comes up, singles past Mark Belanger and Sammy Sosa gets to take his victory lap home. Welp, biggest lessons learned are watch for those crazy ballpark splits. Bob Ojeda might have been a smarter start over Kerry Wood in game 4, and I've got to train up my defensive options to avoid a Collins at 2nd in a deciding game situation. Good thing I'll have another year in Bronze to figure that out. |

Okay, I have made it from the wildcard game to a 2 game lead in the Sub League series which means the Hippos are most likely heading to Diamond. I will see how it goes. I am not sure how competitive they will be at that level.
But first, I must continue the quest to win my first ever championship. |

Raccoons to the Gold Series! Ces and Trout swat it out with four homers in Game 5 to swamp the Titans
! Now off to the good stuff against the 103-game winners Windrunners.
Or, rather, for me - to bed.

Now this is the team I know!
Win the division and lose the divisional round 1 game to 3. We will stay in Silver and attempt to get better over the off season. My lineup is fantastic, when I pull from packs tonight I hope get some usable pitchers. |

...and the Laser Kiwis are out. Fairly ineffectual in the Sub League Series as we lose the series 4-1. 8 seasons in Diamond and we've been lucky enough to be in the playoffs 6 of those seasons but never managed to get the World Series. Next time!

The Hoggs went up 3-2 in the Sub-League Series before losing Games 6 and 7, both in extra innings, to bow out. A fitting end, really, considering how the rest of the season went.

Was out doing family stuff the last few hours, happy to come home just in time to set my lineup for Game 1 of the WS, which I won! 3 more for my first Perfect League championship.

In Perfect 403, against the GIMHAE king in the NC Sub-League Series, my Huntley Red Raiders somehow beat Perfect Pedro twice (games 2 and 6)...and still lost in 7. Crazy series. Congrats to GIMHAE king for reaching the Perfect 403 League Series!

Kevin Brown with no mercy. 0.90 playoff ERA.
2 more wins to the championship and 1 more Brown start if I need it. Maddux and Mungo at home should at least get me 1 more. Last edited by DonkeyKongSr; 02-24-2019 at 08:06 PM. |

So, I was able to finally move Randy Johnson 97 to the pen late in the season and wow, he's been awesome.
15.2 innings, 0 ER, 9 hits, 15 K. |

I finally did it! All those seasons and finally a Perfect Team champ!
Kevin Brown had the greatest post-season of all time to get me there. 0.69 ERA. As many 0 run outings as earned runs. And look at that comeback starting in August...around the time I pulled Kevin Brown's card. From 4th in my division to 1st in the last few days of the season to winning the WS. What a wild ride. Crazy Pythagorean vs. Actual thanks to my #1 bullpen winning all those 1-run games. Last edited by DonkeyKongSr; 02-24-2019 at 11:41 PM. |

Here's my final championship roster. Super-platoons. A Silver Slugger-winning catcher. Elite starting staff and bullpen. And picking up Keefe late let me put Randy in the bullpen where he gave up exactly 0 ER the rest of the season and playoffs.

Raccoons got smushed - not just smashed; smushed! - in the Gold League series by a team that on paper did not look all that bad, but on the field had no trouble turning the Critters into a pair of gloves. We lost in five games, and my a desolate 33-9 runs. Well, you can't get a clearer "NO!!" than that.
Next week, Diamond, and with this team it will sure will be another wild and insane ride.
