I am in there with you. I see a couple of tough teams from my prior leagues. Your team is tough too. My old geezers may not make it to Diamond this year.

I ran some comparisons for our league using last year's Silver stats.

Top 5 Position Players in WAR:
1. Trout, KAL
2. Betts, FIV
3. Trout, FIV
4. Betts, LT
5. Trout, RP

So I guess if you don't have Trout and Betts you are behind already.

Top Player (WAR) at each position:
C Campanella, SEA
1B Goldschmidt, FRE
2B Altuve, AHW
3B Turner, B
SS Simmons, HON
LF Yelich, HIG
CF Trout, KAL
RF Betts, FIV

So the talent is spread around the league, which should make for good competition.

Top 5 Starting Pitchers (WAR):
1. Gibson, LOU
2. deGrom, U.K.
3. McKay, KAL
4. Sale, GG
5. deGrom, RP

Gibby had a 6 WAR season but I was still surprised to see him at #1.

Guess that makes me kind of a fool trying to sell Trout this season but he just does not fit well in my platoon system. Guess we will see if that was a mistake this season.

I am sad that the best team has to be the same players. I was hoping for a game where I could see Ruth vs. Mantle and Cobb vs. Speaker, but instead we have:

C variety here
1B Goldschmidt/Freeman
2B Altuve/Ramirez
3B Arenado or other MLB2018 diamond
SS variety here
LF Yelich
CF Trout
RF Betts

SP deGrom
SP Sale
SP historical perfect
CL Diaz/Doolittle

If you don't have these, you are working toward these or you are playing for fun only.

I am just a bit cynical this morning, so maybe I am being too narrow in my view. But it does seem to be the same players on every top team, and most of them are MLB2018 players.
