The Season 2 (2020) Discussion Thread
Here we go.... Week 2!!
I glanced at my division in the Silver league this morning and it looked competitive without any whales. That made me very happy. Apparently there was an issue with promotions though and they may rerun the league advancement. I will be disappointed if the division changes and I wind up with one or more Whales after seeing the original division rosters. |

They may be about to rerun the advancement, so I will wait and see before I say much too.

This is what my division looks like in the Silver level Rho Beta league. Helsinki and Taipei were in my division in the Bronze league.
EDIT: New picture shows me in a completely new league (Iota Tau). :-) Last edited by ArcAngel; 12-10-2018 at 08:58 AM. |

I just pulled a Diamond Snell for my Stade Black Sox! Maybe this year I'll get out of the Bronze Level (Ny Omikron)... my rotation looks pretty solid with this:

I am curious on how Larry Jansen performs this season. Won his first game then went 1-8, and finished 17-14. 8 or 9 wins in a row.
But at least my Denver Bears got promoted, while Trenton Minutemen, who had the second worse record, stayed put.

This season will be one of slowly trying to upgrade my pitching. I think my offensive rankings in my conference was 1st in BA and Steals, 2nd in OBP and 4th in Runs. The only category where I was lacking was homeruns.
My starting pitching was middle of the pack but I added some upgrades during the season. My bullpen was dead last until the end of the season where a few moves allowed it to climb a few spots. I will be watching the bullpen closely. I will also keep an eye open for power, but I don't want to sacrifice what the team was doing well just to add power. So I will be looking for a player with power that can still hit for average. Last edited by Maddox; 12-10-2018 at 09:59 AM. |

3 of the teams in my division had won 111, 109,108 games last season, so it's freaking hard for me to win. My will bat against deGrom,Tom Seaver and Chris Sale in my opening Series, deGrom is their opening day starter. He's last season MVP and CYA in his bronze level, 24W4L, 1.67 ERA, 0.94 Whip, 7.8War

So I took the plunge and made a second, all iron team mid-week last week. I got lucky in my initial 6 packs with a gold and 2 historical silvers that netted me a few thousand PP. I've been bidding on every iron card I can find that was a reasonable price. The quality of some of these cards surprised me. Yesterday I spent a long, loooong time trying to spreadsheet my way through about 600 players and onward to victory until after 2AM.
Watch out whatever league I end up in--Galeg's Greydudes are coming to town! |

I was promoted and my nemesis was placed in another league. Yay! I am again in a division with a better team this time, but this one has a more reasonable selection of great cards (2 perfect, 8 diamonds) so I have hope.
I am tired of having the same cards as everyone else, so I am doing something about it. I am slowing selling 2018 Live cards and replacing them with historical cards. I am really handicapping myself unintentionally by doing this because of the price gap between 2018 Live and historical but I forge ahead anyway. I started in the rotation by selling Kluber and Carrasco on Sunday. They will be replaced by a gold Steve Carlton and a silver Andy Pettitte. I still have deGrom at the top of the rotation because it's my only perfect and I just can't part with it yet. I am looking for a good #2 to push Pettitte to the pen and slide everyone else down a notch but I haven't found the right card at the right price yet. I feel like this shift to historicals is a sound move because my gold Jim Bunning was the Pitcher of the Year in my league, against all those perfect deGroms and Sales and a bunch of 2018 diamond pitchers. So gold historicals can compete and maybe they really are better than their OVR. I also put Aaron Judge on the block (200 Ks yuk) and replaced him with deadball homer machine Gavvy Cravath. I hope to rack up several double dingers with Gavvy and maybe get a home run title. Did you know Gavvy was a judge after he retired from baseball? He had no legal training either. He claimed that his experience watching umpires was enough. I still have several important 2018 players to replace before my project is complete. I have lots and lots of time and Christmas is approaching. |

I am in the division with Thalion's Walnut Hill Geezers in the MYNY league. They just beat me in the Bronze World Series. This is Going to be fun
I also my rival, Vyshka's Texarkana Tumbleweeds over in the other conference. We beat each other up all last season. Hopefully we can play in the WS this year. I see some of our other teams in this league too. Good luck, my friend

I live in Durham, NC, snowed in! None of those teams are mine though. I do have a 2nd team called the Durham Tattered Gloves.

Otis Nixon Mark Grace Orlando Cepeda Chipper Jones Al Dark ????? Tommy Herr Buster Posey Clyde Milan I am forgetting the name of my last outfielder but he is historical. I actually just picked up Posey. Good catchers are expensive. Good historical catchers even more so. My pitching staff though is mainly live series cards. I may eventually replace them with Historicals but right now you just get so much more bang for the buck with current pitchers. |

My league had most of the same teams after the promotion redo I think, but the divisions were quite different. I probably had the best roster of the short-lived division setup, but now I'm up against the Everett Aqua Sox's monster team. I'll either need to get some really lucky pack pulls, or sink some more cash into the game if I want to have much of a chance against them. Resisting the latter is going to be difficult.

I’m just happy beating the Knights to get there. I actually won the clinching game there on a wild pitch in the bottom of the 10th. |
