It's absolutely unfair and uncalled for to assume the op had an ulterior motive and then to aggressively attack him based on an assumption of intent that may not even have any validity at all.
He seems like he's just having fun with the game. Heck it's not like he created a super team or anything like that, he just traded for a couple big names. Can all the rest of us say we've never sold the farm to trade for Trout in any of our games? At any rate, even if he was creating a super team or bragging about it, so what? That doesn't hurt anyone else. But I didn't see it that way at all, to me it looks like the guy was just excited about and enjoying the game. To get attacked the way he did is really kind of unfair and puts the forums here in a very bad light. Very occasionally, some folks on these forums seem eager to attack new people, as well as those who do things "wrong" or who seem a bit different. Please try hard not to do that Welcome to the forums Noah, I hope you enjoy the game and hope to see you around here for a long time to come Last edited by Lukas Berger; 10-12-2014 at 02:56 PM. |

I don't dislike the thread, actually. It's the fact that the attempt was made to be deceptive of his true intention. And that was to highlight his accomplishments with the Marlins. That's fine as well, as the forums are a place that exist to exchange ideas, information and results. Just don't be dishonest about what your aim is. Also of issue is the language in which was used by Noah in response to my postings. He used language that is inconsistent with what a courteous forum member would use. He began mud slinging, and was subsequently chastised for it. He could have just as easily posted two separate threads about the two subjects, and in the correct sub-forums. That would have been far better than attempting to package a dynasty report in a "how do you play the game" thread. I still refuse to believe that he was incapable of performing a search(either forum based or search engine) and thus had no other option than to reopen an old discussion in a new thread. Anyone who had used a forum when they were in the third grade is quite cognizant of how forums work. Just be honest Noah, that's all that I was aiming for with my posts. The more you adhere to this construct that you didn't know how to perform a search, and that you really didn't want to draw attention to the all star roster you compiled with your Miami franchise the more I consider you to be a liar. The individuals who populate this forum(as you will discover) are a collection of rather intelligent people. They are not people who will be fooled easily. Finally, the fact that you made an admission that certain portions of your language were inappropriate yet made no apology are an indication(to me at least) that you aren't really sorry for the comments you made. Instead you are likely more upset that the forum found you to be the one guilty of a transgression instead of me. Really, I am sorry you feel offended that I have questioned your post content. The content would have not drawn my attention had you done a couple of things differently. One, read the posting guidelines prior to making the post. And two posting the content in the appropriate places in the forum, with the topics separated from each other.

Also, what do you have against paragraphs? Talk about ignoring basic forum etiquette. |

I have a huge case of simmers envy. I really wish I could learn to enjoy simming as much as I do watching my games out. I say watching, because it's what I do more often than not. I just watch. Who knows, maybe I just like pushing the number 1

Hey, don't slow down on me now. This thread is almost as entertaining as the Royals.

I prefer to play one-pitch for as many games as possible as it keeps my interest up by making me feel more a part of the game. That said, whenever the game seems to be a blowout, I click on half and full inning a lot. Also like to check the log in such instances if my team scores some runs.

Personally, I am likely to play each game in a one-pitch mode, because I know that my team will suck if I sim. It's better to know and feel, when and why we suck.

Been mainly playing OOTP for years in one pitch mode & playing every game which usually takes about 15 minutes. There are many ways of taking advantage of the AI so I play it the following way:
-I use the newest MLB startup setting. -When playing a game, all my team controls are set to manager AI except for substitutions. -I control all the lineups for my own team for every game. -After every game I play I then select thePlay "Finish Today" button. -I then select my team transaction team and press the "Ask AI to select complete Minor League System" a few times until I no longer see any changes taking place on the screen. -I control all GM aspect for my own team except for "Minor League Promotions/Demotions" and "Minor League Lineups/Depth/Pitching" which are set to Minor League Managers". -I have my settings for trading to "Very Hard" & "Favor Prospects". When using the shop player trade option I only allow myself to trade my player of same star value evaluated by my scout. I find the AI very weak in that area sometimes, offering players that are way better. I don't make it easy for myself because I like a realistic simulation and the a/m settings are satisfying to me. |
