Issue with MLB roster and PECOTA

First off I want to thank those that go through the tedious process of entering in the ratings for the players.

However, the issue I have with using PECOTA (or based off personal opinion prior) for rating players is that the game doesn’t understand who, or what PECOTA is. Therefore, fictional players created in the game are not replicated, produced at the same level/value.

The immersion quickly fades for me when I begin a league and by 2nd or 3rd year you start noticing players that were once above avg begin to be watered down by better above avg players created by the game. No player is the same, that’s not what I'm advocating against. However, the games created players slowly begin to water down the players that were subject to ratings based on PECOTA. By year 5, you really start to notice the effect of this.

I want to clarify that my complaint isn’t related to player A's ratings decreasing due to injury, age, randomness. I am complaining for a player(s) with player A's ratings at the beginning of the league, become valued as less after a few seasons worth of AI created players begin funneling through the league. And yes, evolution happens, but when you specifically turn that option off, it’s irritating when you see it happen.

In my test leagues the fictional players on average were always very close to their real life counterparts. I usually run hundreds of long-term simulations (100+ years) during beta and tweak the player development / creation code if the balance is out of whack. So what you experienced is probably just normal random variation.
