How is this possible? And I had the #1 BP, so it's not like they were blowing his wins.

Raccoons played rather indifferently in Diamond all year long; started 5-0, then quickly rushed under .500 and largely stayed there all year en route to an uninspired 80-82 finish. Oh well, at least we're sticking to a league for the first time in forever. After 13 seasons, this is only the *fourth* time we are not either promoted or relegated.

It's 3.32 vs. 3.75 ERA. He did get screwed on run support.

Unbelievable end to the regular season for the Healy Hoggs in D396. Starting the final 3-game series they trailed the Lake Thunderbird Puppers by 2 games. The Puppers had just beat the Hoggs 2-1 in their final set of the season and were off to play the 2nd-worst team in the conference for their final set, while the Hoggs were up against a 76-win team, needing to win all 3 and hope for the Puppers to lose their bundle if they were to have a shot at the postseason.

Both teams won their first game.

The Hoggs won their second, while the Puppers went down in extra innings.

1 game back with 1 to play. Could the Hoggs, who'd had another season where they seemed unable to score (13th of 15) despite being middle of the road offensively (8th of 15 in OPS), do what they'd done last season and force a Game 163? They needed to win and the Puppers needed to lose.

Whitey Ford, who had an ERA over 5 and a 7-15 record, was the starting pitcher for Healy. He pitched effectively over 6 and the offense gave him and his relief enough run support for a 4-2 victory.

All eyes turned expectantly to the outcome of the Puppers' game. A 4-run 6th from their opponents saw them fall 5-3. The division would need a 163rd game to be decided!

There was no wildcard safety net here, either. Both wildcards were already decided. The winner of this game would go to the postseason and the loser would go on vacation.

The Hoggs were awarded home advantage. Dizzy Dean took the mound. He went the whole game, giving up just 5 hits for a solo homer. But it was a team effort. Healy put up 13 hits and 2 walks to win 9-1 and secure their 6th straight postseason berth, and 3rd straight at diamond level.

Whether Healy deserves to be in the playoffs is a whole other discussion. Once again their pitching staff were excellent - best overall ERA (2nd-best for starters), 2nd-least runs allowed, least homers given up, 2nd-least walks, - but their offense struggled all season to convert baserunners to runs. They finished 4 games below Pythag (though early in the season had been as high as 3 games above) and were only 50-48 against right-handed SP.

Fans were bemused to see Gavvy Cravath go to the All Star Game but immediately thereafter given his marching orders. Socks Seybold had earlier been sold, replaced with J.D Martinez. But despite trialing Cravath in the outfield for the better part of the month, the Hoggs' GM knew he couldn't carry both him and Martinez. So off to market Cravath went. It was the right decision. Not only did Cravath fetch more than market value, Martinez anchored the offense admirably after the break, finishing with 22 homers and a slash-line of .327/.382/.599 from 80 games. Cravath was replaced with Tim Lincecum, who went 8-2 in 13 starts across the second half. Garry Maddox also came into the side, replacing Kevin McReynolds, who was sent to the reserve roster. The offense was better after the All Star Break but there still appears to be an imbalance to the lineup.

Anyway, whether Healy is deserving to dance or not is really immaterial. They're there now and head straight to the Division Series, thankful for the extra rest that gives their pitchers.

Of course, if they get as far as the Diamond Level Series that will present another question: how badly will they get mulched at Perfect level? But let's not count our chickens before they're hatched...

Somehow we came back and won the division after a roller coaster ride all season. We will get the Aqua Sox if we can win the Division Round now. I would sure like to take them down and see you in the WS. I stay in the random league choice so I can play teams like them. Nothing is better than knocking teams full of 100's or teams with several 100's(Perfect Pedro )and a manager that knows his business like Twinsfan down a notch occasionally. How else do we know how good we really are?

The Hippos snuck in to the Diamond playoffs as the second wild card team. That means that they have made the playoffs every year since they were created. 7 straight post seasons.

As a side not I saw that we won a game that went 22 innings by a score of 2-1. Some pitchers helped their ERA in that game.

My team won 115 games this year in perfect league which was pretty wild. Hoping to pick up my second perfect WS crown this season.

Finally can stop reporting on the comings and goings of the bronze leagues, as the Sidewinders are finally looking at promotion. Now to play in an extreme shift stadium (extreme favors righties), but on the bright side I have my pitchers set for this situation, with my lefty SP set for home starts and Kerry Wood and Wes Ferrell set for games 1 and 2. Wood had a no hitter to open the previous round, so let's hope his hot hand continues.

Ohtani did it in style, too. Big Fly Ohtani-San indeed.

The Hoggs lost the first 2 games of the Division Series but then rallied to win the final 3.

On to the Sub-League Series to face wildcard team Love Actually. They used a 4-pitch opener strategy all season (the 4 openers were all SP but never threw more than 4 innings in a game, and usually only 2) and won the wildcard game in a combined shutout before breezing past the best team in the conference 3-1 in the Division Series.

The Hoggs took the first game 9-6.

The Hoggs go down in 7 games to Love Actually, losing Game 7 in 11 innings by the score of 3-2. On to next season!

Well, the team lost another game 7, but at least it wasn't in the final inning. Bounced out in the sub-league series to the team that would end up winning the whole thing. In light of this, some small edits were made to lineup in order to improve in the face of upcoming promotion. Out are Tom Tresh and Chipper Jones, while coming in to play 3rd base will be a combination of Didi Gregorius and Bert Campaneris. Also decided to finally slurge on a catcher, so John Sterns is in for Jody Davis.

Lightly adjusted my park to be more pitcher friendly save for increased doubles and triples. Hopefully an increased emphasis on baserunning will translate to continued success as the Sidewinders move up to Silver.

My pack pulling luck was not with me this week. We only pulled one card that we can use and that is a Wilson Ramos who will be a slight upgrade at catcher.
We also made it to the sub league series so we may be promoted later today. In the dying weeks of PT 19 I can at least say my packs only FTP team made it to gold even after getting a late start on Dec 24th.

PT 20 I will get within the first week and keep with my FTP packs only theme and see how high we can get.
Next version I may also try and run a second team as well with FTP but also using the AH and see how much easier that makes things or if using the AH makes me spend high on a few select players and not be able to pull from packs.

I was not paying much attention to my Macon County Cardinals in the silver league and they won their division.

Then in the playoffs the swept the first two rounds 3-0 and 4-0, winning 7 straight games but then they fell back down to earth so I still have not won a championship yet.
