historical database.odb

I have been playing around with the .csv files trying to get 1871 (correct NA teams with players on the correct team) to load with the least amount of work as possible. I am able te get it to load correctly with the historical database.odb removed from the stats folder (by having 2 AL teams and one NL i delete after creating the game).

In searching/reading through the forums i saw that it didn't matter if 1871 league creation came from the .csv files or the historical database.odb file. What I haven't been able to find, is what effect adding draft classes with the .csv files has versus using the historical database.odb file.

I am using OOTP 11 and have been using different variations of Gambo, Spritze and lahman databases.

Thanks

Not sure what you mean by "adding draft classes". However, the essential difference between the .odb and .csv files is performance of loading league history. The game operates the same with or without the .odb. One of the issues however could be matching the teams with the players. If you you are simply looking to draft all new players, then you should be OK.

by adding draft classes, I meant importing the historical rookies each season.

thanks, this is what I was looking for.....I was reading through the forums yesterday and found a thread about defensive ratings not importing properly unless the .odb was present. I'm pretty new to the game, so maybe that got fixed and what I was reading out of date info.

as far as matching the players to the correct teams, I think I have figured out how to do that. I have been using different parts of the different databases available.

What I am kind of stuck on is getting the histories to tie together like I want to. Thinking of creating a "purgatory" league for inactive teams so I can move them in and out of a league....haven't read if this had been tried before or not.

thanks again...
