BZ 1990: Online League Crashing

I'm the co-commish of an online league and we're having a severe problem.

When I or the other commish try to save the game, it is crashing. I can save the game with no problems until we get past June 3, 2009. If I try to save any time before or on June 3, no problems; but as soon as I try to save after that date, the game crashes during the save.

I've tried advancing without the FTPs, but the same thing occurs. Both of us use 9.2.11

Please help!

Is anything noteworthy happening on June 3rd or June 4th in your league?

Will the game crash when it automatically saves before closing the program?

Is there a way that we can get a copy of your league and the commish password? (PM me)

Well, I thought I had narrowed it down to being a problem with one of the players on the Montgomery Biscuits (was able to sim and save after every game but theirs), and after deleting all the players from that team and simming to January 2010, I thought I was on the right track. But when I opened the backup and did it all again to make sure, the game crashed in the middle of the 6/1-6/8 week again, this time while simming 6/5.

The only thing that's happened on June 4th is that two guys' DFA time is up.

It crashes anytime it tries to save, be it automatically when closing the database, or when I manually click save.

Yes, I'll send that over.

OK, after deleting a player that was getting credit for playing on two different teams starting in June (never before, but he was credited for playing with the Biscuits and Giants on 6/2 and 6/3) I am able to sim through June regularly with no problems. But, I've been having troubles getting past July on a regular basis. I've had the game crash in late July, middle of August, and January 2010 all while simming.

Well, made it to June 2010. I'm really stumped by this because it's happening at different times now.

I didn't delete the player in question, but merely asked the AI to assign lineups for his team and got the game to sim partially through July until it crashed. (The AI took him out of the lineup, but I put him back in for a while and it still didn't immediately crash.)

I asked the AI to set up each organization individually and managed to get to mid-January without a crash. I can't really make sense of it either.

All I can suggest is that you keep backups before running each sim for now. The crashes don't seem terribly regular, but unless we can pinpoint what is causing them, I don't know what else to do.

I noticed that the player was injured, but still starting some games. He was credited for playing 10 defensive innings total in 6 games, but never went to the plate, and is not in the box score or game log.

The game didn't crash until he came back from his injury, then he somehow was getting credit for playing for two teams at the same time

My best guess is that there are other injured players that may be causing this, but really I don't have any idea.

Quite possibly. Could you upload a zipped copy of your league with the commish password disabled (just .dats) and let us know the file name per the instructions here: http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar...-files-us.html

That way, I can log the issue and hopefully Markus can look at it at some point.

Will do. I think we'll press on and I'll just keep a separate backup of each sim so if we have problems down the road we will have multiple points to restart from. Like I said, I'm guessing that this is happening with other players, which may be causing the crashes down the road, but going through all 300 some odd players that are injured (or worse yet, all of the players in the universe) isn't something I can do right now.

Thanks for your help Nutlaw! Hope Markus is able to see what's going on here and fix it. Just hope it isn't something that will plague others.

For reference, udbacker58 had PMed me these details earlier:

"It looks like Patrick Cottrell (2B on the Montgomery Biscuits) could be the culprit. For some reason he's being credited as playing for the San Francisco Giants and the Montgomery Biscuits on the same day. Don't really know why this happened. I simmed up to the next month twice with no problems after deleting him."
