FHM 2 Online League - 1990 Start, Fictional Players
I am the founder/commisisoner of the United States Baseball Association, a promotion/relegation league in it's sixth season using OOTP15. We have a full roster of 32 GMs, and some of my guys have expressed interest in kicking off an online league for FHM2. We'd like to start in 1990 with fictional players and a lax sim schedule--maybe three sims a week, seven days per sim type of thing. We're thinking of keeping the league locked in at the 21 teams from 1990, with giving a team the option of moving when their team historically did so. At the moment we aren't looking at expanding, instead building on the older rivalries. We would start with an inagrual draft considering that we'll have fictional players.
Post within if interested. We've got the following teams locked up: Adams Division Bruins - BeanSobie Canadiens - krownroyal83 Sabres Whalers - Timmy/Hartford GM Nordiques - kyzBP Patrick Division Penguins - Lilly/Wizarding GM Rangers - Ian/California GM Capitals - Don/Capital District GM Devils - Mau/SC GM Flyers - Kasparaitis Islanders - Sal/New Amsterdam GM Norris Division Blackhawks - Me/Chicago GM (USBA team) Blues - Adfabre Red Wings - Kerry/Buckhead GM North Stars - Matt/Phoenix GM Maple Leafs - Scott/Thunder Bay GM Smythe Division Kings - drewst18 Flames - Imran/Rock City GM Oilers Canucks - Troy/Brooklyn GM Jets - Reed/Atlanta GM Last edited by breich90; 03-17-2015 at 10:18 AM. |

I am co-commisioner with BReich in the USBA and we run a fun and active league and are excited to bring that over to FHM as the games first online league. I will be taking the Minnesota North Stars on their way to conquering the Norris Division We choose 1990 as are base point because that was after teams seemed to settle in their historical competitive divisions and before the massive relocations and realignments that took place. Reviving the rivalries of the old Adams or Norris divisions is a big intent of ours. We will let teams relocate at thier historical times if managers chose too. However, those relocation will probably be accompanied with a corresponding expansion back to the original market. This will give our new NHL a historical grounding based on traditional markets and rivalries while still giving our league a unique feel. Many of our early recruits come from our strong USBA Baseball online league but dont be intimidated we are a fun group with a handful of guys who are really passionate about hockey. Format
3 or 4 sims a week 7 days at a time 1990 Alignment 21 teams in 4 divisions Relocations at historical relocation optional 80 game season 16 playoff teams 4 teams from each division in divisional playoffs. Junior draft We will probably use Slack to communicate. It is what we use for the USBA it is essentally AIM on steriods and allows integration of many chats and apps to streamline everything. Adams or Norris divisions is a big intent of ours.
I hope you can edit the names to reflect the old naming for conferences and divisions. 1) 3 sims per week sounds awesome. 2) Thoughts on how the draft will be run? Straight or snake? How order is decided? 3) Money? Cap, no cap, everyone starts with same cash and survival of the fittest? 4) I am not familiar with how FHM handles revenue, is there anything substantially different from OOTP? More questions to come...

We can start a historical 1990 season. so the alignment will be right. In FHM1 I believe names can be edited like OOTP so I would be shocked if thats an issue.
In 1990 there was no cap so we need to decide if we are going with the historical uncapped method or the modern cap. Historical Finances or modern finances. Also need to decide on inaugural draft method. |

I vote uncapped.
I like snake drafts for inaugural. I would think a draft of that size will take a week? Something, or we just forum draft the first 10 rounds and in game draft list the rest? I have to be honest, I have no problem with a 2 week draft to get through a bunch of rounds.

I'd prefer uncapped as well. Since there aren't any draft utilities out there we can forum draft/slack draft the first 10 rounds and then go from there.
Naming the conferences and divisions shouldn't be a problem. |

I don't want to stop the enthusiasm (big Online League fan myself!) but since I don't totally understand your suggested league setup (how exactly would you build a 1990 setup with fictional players?), I'm not 100% sure it will work.

I understand you as developers are trying to give a simple approach, with a CS degree myself I can understand. Ultimately if a 1990 start doesn't work we can do a 2015 custom league with the teams from 1990. Last edited by breich90; 03-06-2015 at 12:42 PM. |

I read through the features thread and it seems that a fictional players league may not be possible without an obscene amount of manually work.

Yeah, based on the features list it looks like we'll have to start in 2015 for fictional. Not sure if we can do a 21 team league so we can do a 22 team league instead.

It is my understanding that FHM2 will have two team expansions avaliable in any league setup.
