Reserve Era?

Do historical seasons use reserve era rules?

If so, will free agency automatically go into effect in '75?

Speaking of automatically, will a historical league evolve according to history? (Expansion, relocation, etc?)

Historical leagues will not evolve historically in iOOTP (unlike the laptop version). Your second and every subsequent season continue the same league structure that you start with, and all of the new players are fictional.

I know that's false, a new feature in 2013 was bringing in historical rookies.

So, for those who know:

League evolution?

Reserve era rules?

He answered your league evolution question. It doesn't happen. No expansion etc. The new players will be fictional as long as you have not purchased consecutive seasons.

One thing that at least might work (I can't stress might enough), is the evolution of a second wild card spot and the realignment of the Astros to the AL West in a league started in 1998 or later. In a test run in iOOTP 2012 it worked like a charm, but I haven't managed to get far enough to verify in iOOTP 2013. To maintain accuracy for the current year and incorporate at least have some level of historical play, I started my league in 1998. Here's hoping my hunch and minimal testing was right!

How do you set up iOOTP to include the new historical players then? I have 76 and 77 but nothing is linked as far as I can tell.

I moved my league from 12 to 13 and purchased all the seasons and I did not get real players in my first draft after doing so. It may be that because the league started on an earlier version of the game that 13 won't recognize how ever the game was coded in 12 to make it possible but if there is another step I need to follow to import the next season and its rookies I would be interested to know. If possible my preference is to start bringing back real players I am at a 50/50 split real to fictional now. I thought about starting fresh with 13 but I invested time on building my team and I dont want to scrap it.

It should work itself out. Make sure your seasons are purchased before you begin your league.
