Historical league with fictional minor league players
I am relatively new to ootp and was wondering what most people like to do with their minor league players when they start a historical league.
I want to start my league in a past year, say 1961 for example, and play with the actual MAJOR league players from that year but, as GM of my team, I would like the uncertainty of not knowing who in my MINOR leagues are likely to be the stars of future years. To do that I MUST, I expect, need to have all of my minor league players be fictional right? If you don't do this how do you have any real GM challege since you KNOW who the ulitmately good and bad players will be as the years go by. Or am I missing a better way to play or think of this? |

Playing recalc off gives you a little bit of a challenge as you don't always know how someone will plan out. I'm currently playing in 1911 and to this point I've seen Cy Young and Christy Mathewson end up being complete busts and a no name minor leaguer I traded away is currently putting up 20 hr plus a season in the pre-Ruth era. But yes, more often than not you're gonna see Ty Cobb be Ty Cobb and such. But it isn't a given.
