kinda old news but...
I couldn't find the thread so Ill just post again, for the hell of it, pay no mind...
i seem to remember you guys liking Cinderella Man, at least some of you. I just saw it (yes, its old) and I thought it was basically love story. If I owned a video rental shop I would put it in the romance section. It's literall at least an 1hr or more of nothing but squinty (Renee Zellweger), cryin and bitchin and moanin. The fight scenes however were done better than Ali, IMO, actually they were damn good. But you can kinda tell Crowe can't box a lick when you watch him TRY to shadowbox..at least that's my opinion. Oh, didn't like Pig Vomit as his manager either, odd choice. Don't mean to offend anyone that liked it. DON'T TAKE OFFENSE PLEASE. Thanks for your time

Well, if you eliminate a boxing film because there's some kissy-face in it, you won't have much in the BOXING section of your video store. Happy New Year.

To state the obvious, when you make a film you have to make it saleable to the general public to make any money at all. A film consisting of all Joe Louis fights one after the other might attract some of us but it would make very little impact at the box office. Raging Bull had a story with it, even Rocky did. If you want to watch pure boxing you have to buy a video. Who the hell but us few cares anyway about the fight game anymore. Aint that the sad truth. Hence the problem in selling our own boxing game to the general public.

Cap is right, nearly every boxing movie I've ever watched had a love story angle. Rocky, Raging Bull, Somebody up there likes me and most of the rest. I would rank Cinderella Man right up there with the best of them. P.S. I thought the trainer stole the movie. That guy always does a great job. He was even in Howard Stern's movie 8 years ago. MJ

My problem was more with the glaring mistakes made in the film. Like at the start they show him beating Tuffy Griffith and comment on Braddock being undefeated (from memory I think they said 26-0) yet really he had 3 loses and 5 draws at the time of that fight.
Then they made a big deal about Corn Griffin being in line to fight Baer and being a big contender? The guy was a bum and was 7-3 at the time. But overall I enjoyed the movie. Renee is a great actress and the boxing scenes were well done. |

Does anyone have a photo of Corn Griffin? I'm rating all of the fighters Braddock faced and could use a photo of him.

I uploaded Corn Griffin a while back and can't upload again. You can try search, but I don't have any luck with that.
