Player Not Learning English
I have a player who has played in the NHL for 3 years and still has not learned how to speak English, and feels isolated.

Yes. This is a tragically overlooked aspect of this game that hopefully they will take the time to solve. The overall idea is a good one, but if there is no mechanic in-game for a player gradually learning a language and becoming settled in his team then the implementation is ultimately undercooked. Having to trade for 3 Russians you don't really want to settle 1 Russian that you do is a silly idea.

They do eventually learn the language of the league they play in, it just isn't clear how long it takes. I know I've seen some guys in my fictional game learn English over time, but I can't say for sure when they do. It probably will get addressed at some point, it is still a relatively new system.

I've noticed all my players at one time or another who speak languages other than English have "isolated" in their morale, even if they've been on the team several years. It's a bit of an odd quirk in the game.

Sebastian just found an error in the language-learning code that was slowing the learning speed to a much slower rate than intended. Will be fixed in the upcoming update.

In real life there is a lot players that know at least basics of English before going outside of the country of their nation.
And example in Finland if player is from west coast of Finland and have Swedish at the fluent language then about 90% of those know at least basics of Finnish. These players should be like: Swedish (fluent), Finnish (good), [none/English (good/basic)] Swedish (fluent), Finnish (basic), [none/English (good/basic)] Or from west coast of Finland and Finnish is fluent language then: Finnish (fluent), Swedish (good), [none/English (good/basic)] Finnish (fluent), Swedish (basic), [none/English (good/basic)] Finnish (fluent), [none/English (good/basic)] a lot of people in Finland learn basics of English in the school so maybe it is good to have some random number generator if player already know at least basics of English or not. Same with other languages in other countries. Not sure about other countries school system. |

Unfortunatley it would probably take a tremndous amount of work and a huge database to pinpoint languages in different regions of a specific country. Not really worth it for a little computer game I feel.
