Want to get rid of a ML but keep the players - how?
Hello all,
I play OOTP 21 as sort of a control freak and trying to manage so many minor league teams is just too hard. In previous versions, I would eliminate a bunch of the lower leagues like the DSL, GCL, etc. I would like to do that this time, too, but in looking through those rosters, there are quite a few good prospects on some of those teams. If I eliminate those leagues during game setup, what happens to those players? Is there any way to mass promote a bunch to Single A and then delete the leagues? Can you even delete the leagues once you start a game with them? * BAD TITLE: By "ML", I mean Minor League, not a Major League. Last edited by Fronzizzle; 03-24-2020 at 03:22 PM. If it works like OOTP 20, when you delete the minor league team, the players are dropped onto the Free agent list.

What I’ve done in the past is set a maximum age for the leagues you want to get rid of. Set it at like 15 then run computer manager on all teams and it should promote the decent prospects and release the rest. Should have 0 players on teams in that league and then you can delete the leagues.

I like this idea, but I can't find where to set the age limit for each league? I found a tab that lists the minimum and maximum age for fictional players, but nothing else.

League Settings - Rules - then select league the league from the dropdown on the right hand side.

Make sure your game is in commissioner mode and then go to the players list for the desired league you want to delete. Select them all and promote to whichever A-Ball team it lists and it'll mass promote them all to that level for their organization. You might have to mass select and promote a couple times, but it works like a charm for me when I condense my minor leagues.

When I went to a minor league and set the age limit to 15, then ran Computer Manager, nothing happened. I tried changing it to 16, 17, 18 and putting in a minimum age, too, but no players get promoted or released.

Weird. I’m actually playing with all minor leagues this year so haven’t tried in this version. May try a test league later to try it out.

So, it didn't work for me at first, but I figured it out. Before you click run computer manager on all teams, make sure you select Major League Baseball from the dropdown. Then it should work.

Thanks. I did some additional testing, too, and found that for some reason, it worked for some teams but not others (in the same league). But changing it to MLB worked.
