Collection mission AH sell strategies?
I'm completing a few of the collection missions myself, but each of my teams has a few hundred cards, so I thought I'd try to sell a few.
No way am I going to research what cards are used for what missions for every single card - way too much time. Some people are asking crazy PP for lower level cards. It's almost comical. Right now in the AH there's a 42 value iron card, offered at a Buy Now of 1500 PP right next to the same card offered for 15 PP. What's a good strategy? Just start with a reasonable starting bid and no Buy Now and let the card ride for 24 hours or so and let the market determine its value? Almost seems like too much bloody work... |

Yeah, I can see that collections take time and effort. If you hae the time great, but the rest of us are going to try and recognize what cards are being searched for and get them in the AH when we get them. Could be a money maker for us too, but it will take some effort.

List it for what you don't mind getting back for it. I find I just run through cards I don't need (low duplicates), and then you see based on what the recent sales numbers are. If the avg all-time is 10 and the avg in the last week is 150, then I know it's probably in a collection, so I list it for higher.
But yeah, some cards are definitely going for crazy amounts. Wang, who I need to finish a collection, had an all-time avg of about 400 going into this week, and right now there's one that's been bid up over 7k. |

I reeeeeeally want a Special Edition Mets card. Don't care which. 1969 Seaver, 1986 Hernandez, 2012 Wright. Or the 1988 Strawberry (which is not a Mets-only collection reward). Don't care. Any one will do!
Unfortunately, my current PP budget is… let's just say the auction house is still crazy and I really didn't intend to tear up my perfect Chris Sale to turn it into collection fodder. And yeah, 10k for a 1986 Ron Darling on the auction house right now. I love Ron Darling to bits, but … eeeeeh …! I find it funny that Nolan Ryan has four cards, all diamond+, none of them as a Met, but all of them are part of the Amazin' Mets set Well, unless one already has 900 cards, it's probably best to hold off for a few more days. I can sure see that I'm not getting anywhere nice with the 6k PP I currently hold.

I threw up every iron I had at a start of 25, every bronze at a start of 100, and every silver at a start of 250 for 24 hours and just let the market work. Some sold for several thousand. Most didn't sell of course but at least now I know everything I got back doesn't have some secret high value.

I squeezed myself for a 1986 Sid Fernandez (actually goes into my Perfect League rotation, where Mel Harder walked everything that had legs) and the live cards of Cespedes and Altherr now, clocking in just under 3k.
Maybe I should also just throw stuff up randomly over night… Edit: And in his first start, Sid gives up six runs over 1 2/3 innings. (bangs head against wall repeatedly) Just once in my life I would like to make a good move.

I just watched a Pat Neshek (probably the rarest of the Phillies live set) BIN for almost 4k. That's for a 62-rated live relief pitcher. And then bought one for 100. So yeah...it pays off to pay attention to the collections.

But, for example, I'm not going to spend 20k on the Rickey Henderson 74 OA card, or the 7k for the Wang card for that set. I'm a couple silvers short on some of the live team challenges too, and would probably go 1-2 on them. But when I know I have virtually forever to get those missing 1-2 cards to complete the reward and that shiny card or pack will still be sitting there for me whenever I get around to I'm in no rush. That is, until I accidentally sell the *other* cards in that collection, and have to go buy them back... |

I got a special edition Robin Yount 96 for completing the Brewers LIVE set. I already had most of the high value cards in the set so it wasn't too bad - and cool reward! I'm going for the Wallbangers set and Fingers is like Ryan - from all different teams. But there is a Brewer card in there. I wouldn't mind getting a few those but the top ones will be costly I'm sure. I have one of the Ryan diamond cards - 96 (Angels) - and he's been a beast. Pitcher of the year in Gold League. |

The one card I could not seem to find to complete my Brewer collection was a 72 Bobby Wahls. NEVER on the AH. I was worried I would have to pay through the nose for him but he showed up for 255 PP and I was happy. |

Here's a hot tip coming from someone who is a buyer and not a seller...list everything for as cheaply as you can with BINs that are also very cheap. That is what you should all be doing. Yes, what you should all be doing. You are getting very sleepy...
In all seriousness, I am just glad to see some of these ridiculous auction prices netting zero bids because that'll force people to step out of la la land for a moment and list more reasonable prices.

Yea, I've invested a fair amount of money but these prices are flat out stupid. I'll literally play packs only if this keeps up.
