More Quickstart Questions: When to save 'em?

I'm away from home right now, so I can't experiment on this now and maybe the answer to these questions might benefit others: when saving a league as a quickstart, what difference might it make WHEN you save it? For example, if I save it midseason, will the quickstart be in midseason? Is it best to save a quickstart the moment you've created a new universe or at least at the start of a brand new season? If I start a universe in 2005 and save it as a quickstart in 2012 with a few expansion teams or league realignment, will THAT be the quickstart?

As far as I know it saves from the moment you save it as a quick start.

Make your quickstart before you start simming.

I've thought about creating a league and simming for 10-15 years before saving as quickstart to give it some history. I think this can be done.

Don't see why it couldn't be.

A quickstart can be created anytime I think though I think the general idea is for it to be the at the start of simming.

Though I agree some people might like to jump into a league with some history to it.

Yes, it can be done. As to the wisdom of it, and the time it takes, that is another question.

I guess that I am impatient; I want my quickstart saved in a few seconds. This probably stems from build 2-3 universes nightly.

IMO, the best way to do a quickstart is to:

1. Set up the universe the way you want it.
2. Start the game "unemployed" and in Commish mode
3. Go back into setup and make any revisions to division structure, naming, awards, etc.
4. Save as quickstart.

Don't hire on with a team right now. You can always load the quickstart and hire on with someone. Don't sim a game, or else you will have news articles from a season already started.

This way, if you want to start the same league over, you'll have a clean slate. Plus, if you choose to distribute your quickstart, others will be able to play it from Day One.
