Team Option Buyouts
It'd be nice if OOTP 14 and future versions had some sort of required buyout amount for team options.
Basically signing a team option with $0 buyout is essentially fooling the game into signing a contract you never need to follow through with. In my league all 28 GM's have to have a 15% or more buyout. It's policed manually which can be a pain - but if the game had this feature handled correctly it'd be way better. To give an extreme example, lets say a free agent wants a contract value of $30m. Anybody who wants to abuse the game can offer 2 year deal, 1st year for $10mil and 2nd year team option for $20mil and the AI could assume it's a good deal for them since there is no buyout. Then the team signing him can just use him when he needs him, and let him walk with no penalty. |

I thought so too and was wrong. See this thread.

Make the "required buyout" optional. No need to force it on everybody, just make it an option in the league setup so that it's there if you want it. But, having such an option would be a fantastic idea.

Put a setting in the league setup that sets the minimum buyout %, ie 15% of the contract year. If it is set to 0% then there is no required buyout. Have default set to 0% so only those requiring a minimum buyout need do anything.
