How are draft classes generated?

I started a MLB game and I was wondering how the draft classes are generated? Are the people in the draft actual prospects or are they just generated randomly? If they are real draft prospects, who are your must-drafts?

Unless the process has been changed in the past few years, some of the prospects are actual prospects. Primarily the highest echelon of prospects. The rest will be fictionally generated.

I don't play "real world," so I can't answer your question about "must-drafts" though.

they do run out, of course.

i could tell you must-drafts a while back, but not anymore. once you play through the first 3-5 years you have an exceptional idea of who to draft and when high-end FA are likely to be available. the latter could be known prior by looking at contracts, but that's effort.

i bet you could google mlb top prospects and if you see a name near the top of that list rated well or even rated poorly, you'd do well to draft them.
