Question about OOTP4

Does anyone know: Should I download OOTP4 is my league is sticking with OOTP3 for the time being? I would like to get the new graphical features if OOTP4 will read OOTP3 files, but there doesn't seem to be much point in getting it yet if it won't support OOTP3. Thanks!

Well, as Steve has posted somewhere else, OOTP4 files can't convert down to OOTP3 because of the new ratings, but OOTP3 can convert up. That sounded rather confusing, I'm going to try to find the post.

Personally, I would download OOTP4 just for the solo play even if your online league is keeping OOTP3. (No reason not to play solo on OOTP4 to get a feel for it before you convert while using v3 on the side for online stuff). But, if you mostly play for the online leagues, I suppose you would be just as well off to wait a bit.

I actually think I misunderstood the question originally, I think the question is if you can convert from v3 to v4, but new ratings will be randomly assigned, so if you send in league files to a commish using v3, I don't think it will work. Steve, am I correct in thinking this?

I have not actually tried it but I would not think it would work due to the different file format.
