Season 13 (2031) General Discussion

It's the first (by the time I post this, the 4th day of the season for Monday) day of the week and after week! If this was a real franchise, I would've been fired after my Wild Card loss in Week 12. Five playoff appearances in seven seasons, with four of those in the Wild Card Game. Was up 2-0 in the Division Series and lost three in a row, then also managed to lose four Wild Card Games!

Anyways....collections are here! Which means auction house is a boomin' and those bronze and iron quick sells for the first 12 weeks some people (me included) are kicking themselves for not holding onto them come this morning.

Best of luck. My next post is my roster dilemma, which includes my once locked down backend of my bullpen now facing a dilemma.

A lot to go through today!

Raccoons are still in Perfect, having barely survived an absolute collapse last September. No dramatic changes for this team right now; don't have PP to do anything.

But the Critters have already completed a collection, the 1987 Twins World Champions collection. That was a tough one!

Rebels remain in Bronze in the category of meh teams. They are officially my #3 team now because they have no aim and no goal at all... at least the live card update was more than kind to them; I pulled a double Bogaerts on Saturday and had him up for auction for like 2k, but nobody bought him. Comes the live update, and - whoop! - he's a (90) now!

Raccoons and Rebels are going to be the only team I am trying to do collections with. The trading Accountants can't have piles of unsellable cards cluttering around!

Speaking of the Accountants, after a winless exit from the Bronze LDS last season it is about regrouping, making smart moves, and getting through to the LCS this time.

This morning I bought a 1953 Red Schoendienst with the pile of PP flocking around and was looking forward to using it, but then, eh, let's put him up for a really crazy price until I come home from work. Well, and he sold. I made an absolutely mad 8,200 PP on that transaction. Of course, now I don't have the 1953 Red Schoendienst anymore… and by now I have accumulated 35k PP

There's the boys as of Opening Week:

Yelich was my first perfect too! On my Bees. My second occurred today when Giles got promoted (also Bees). Still waiting on Bellinger - LOL!

Six games in, the Raccoons have more 19-inning games (1) than wins.

Writing's on the wall!

19-inning games must be a tiebreaker somewhere down the list....

Per our signatures, looks like we are in the same Perfect League! I definitely will be checking your team out later today; I don't own any Negro League cards but I would very much like to--it's a fantastic card set, and I can't wait to see how you're deploying it, along with other pre-1947 cards.

Cool! I'll have to check out your team too. The Barnstormers were middling last season, their first season in Perfect. I was perfectly (no pun intended) happy with that, as I don't have much PP currently to compete against the whales.

Through collection missions this morning I was able to add diamond Smokey Joe Wood and a special Negro League card. Be interesting to see how they do. I'll be happy for .500ish ball again this season!

Dude. Nice lineup! Any suggestions you have on improving my lineup are welcome, as I see you've won Gold, Diamond, and Perfect with that team!

That is the 75% black and standard orange.

The Frogs have been placed into the NC of P405 this week and are off to a fast 9-1 start.

It's nice to see some familiar teams (Evergreen Forest Raccoons, Perugia Warriors, Toronto Developers, Memphis Rivermen being the ones I recognize from signatures/posts on the forums). It's also nice that the NC seems to be much more wide open than the AC--the AC contains some real bruisers including the Bville Battling Bonsai and Dyersville Ghosts among other luminaries.

My team will finally have a full compliment of diamond-level starting pitchers and hopefully this is the key that unlocks the playoffs on a week in-week out basis. Hard to imagine for a 100% certifiable F2P team, but I have just north of 100K PP invested into the starting rotation alone after nabbing 94 CC Sabathia for 30K a bit earlier today. Sabathia plugs in along with 97 Bob Gibson (30K), 94 Rick Reuschel (24K), 93 Adam Wainwright (12K), and 92 Steve Rogers (12K). Gone are the days of trying to paper things over with Walker Buehlers, Chris Paddacks, Steve Busbys, and Gerrit Coles *he says while wearing a monocle and a silk smoking jacket*

I just hope that my two-way playing Bob Gibson gets a few at bats this week, but maybe not all that many ABs.

When Pedro Alvarado put away the Raccoons' 5-3 win over the Central Falcons, it ended the Critters' 11-game losing streak to start the season. Combined with their ghastly spill to end last season, the Coons had lost 24 of 25 games.

That is… that is…

I think the word is "manure".

And I thought my 7-game post-season losing streak was bad (blowing 2-0 lead in Iron Division Series during Week 5, four wild card berths from Weeks 6-12).

A busy day across my teams, with some big names traded out to a good market - however, all my teams added something really cool in return!

My All-NL Painter's Wife's Islanders added a 92 Greg Maddux!

My All-AL Sannikov Land Stunners added a 89 Wade Boggs!

and Bob's Milwaukee All-Stars added my first ever PT Perfect - Christian Yelich!

So this should be a fun week!

(sidenote: checking missions, my (relatively limited) collections, and a good amount of saved PP from recent weeks, made this an exceptionally fun PT-day, thanks OOTP! )
