Sure, a lot of these guys have little to no playing time but is there any reason to release them? Even for the seemingly hopeless prospects, there's always a chance they could suddenly show a lot of potential, which happens quite often in OOTP. Can it hurt at all to have a bunch of scrubs just sit on the bench if they are willing to?
Hello BeancheBlanco, that is a good question. From what I understand, there is no harm in keeping however many players in your many leagues as you want. I believe the reason that people only keep a certain amount is so that their minor league system stays organized and does not become cluttered with people who more than likely will never reach the majors.

Please feel free to just use the information as a guide/starting point in helping you determine what is best for your team/league:-)

wiki page is updated, and I re-formatted it a bit to make it easier to read and navigate

OOTP Community Wiki | The Knowledge Page

plus, to league creations tips I added

OOTP Community Wiki | names other than league

it's also a good list of what needs wiki pages created, I saw at least 1 subject that already had a wiki page

OOTP Community Wiki |Historical Databases - summary

so I used that link on the wiki page.

this is also a good list on subjects that need a wiki page.

and thanks for the input, every bit helps, if nothing else it helps me clear up my own thoughts

Very nicely done jazzrack:-) The nice thing about putting together a wiki is that you do not have to do it all at one time. It is a project and you can put it together piece by piece.

I will keep tossing ideas and suggestions your way as they come to mind. Keep up the good work:-)

Any sites that carry minor league boxscores?

The Sporting News used to carry minor league box scores. They stopped publishing Tripe A box scores in 1968.

You can click on a team or league and it will take you to score board. Then click on box to see box scored. Hope this helps

A few more sites worthy of a mention:

Mike McCann's Minor League Baseball History. Shows the teams, nicknames, and affiliations by year for pretty much every minor league since 1901.

SABR Research Journals Archive. The page at SABR's web site from which you can download for free a wide variety of past issues of the SABR publications The Baseball Research Journal and The National Pasttime.

League Operating Rules. A direct link to the page of SABR member Cliff Blau which summarizes the transaction rule changes MLB has undergone over the years.

Ballparks by Munsey & Suppes. Plenty of information on the ballparks of the past and present. Also include similar info for stadiums/arenas used in football, basketball, and hockey.

Clem's Baseball. Features overhead diagrams of all major league ballparks since 1901, with some having multiple diagrams showing how the park changed over time.

Rod's Sports Economics. Follow the link on the main page to go to the spot hosting a variety of files containing financial data and information on not just MLB but also the other big professional sports.

Chris Creamer's Sportslogos.net. A wealth of real-world sports logos past and present.
