Another 1975 league question

My reliever just came in the 8th inning with a 4 run lead, no one on base (he started the inning) finished the game and was awarded a save.

?? Research says the current rule was used in 1975.

There is a minor (imo) flaw that pops up in assigning decisions (W/L/S) when relief pitchers enter the game. The flaw is an inaccurate determination of when the RP enters.

Since you did not include any screen shot I will speculate that the 4th run differential was scored in the winning team's half of the 7th inning. Though your pitcher didn't enter the game until the 8th, the AI recorded him as in the line-up during the offensive half of the 7th, prior to the 4th differential run being scored and, therefore, labeled him with a save situation.

You are correct in noting that a pitcher beginning the 8th with a 4 run lead is not in a save situation.

Now that I think about it, I *did* insert him while my team was batting. IRL of course this means nothing, but game-wise, I'll wait until my team takes the field from now on to do so.

Thanks for the responce.
