The salary data is available, albeit not easily. The Baseball Hall of Fame and Library has the player cards, which are cards clubs filed with their leagues, which contain information about the player, including his salary. That data has to be manually written down by someone looking at those physical cards.

A fellow by the name of Michael Haupert, an economics professor, has been doing exactly that. He's written a number of articles published in the SABR Business of Baseball Committee newsletter, analyzing the salary data he has collected so far. Perhaps he might be willing to share the data he has with OOTP Developments.

Fascinating. I would never have guessed that the information had been preserved.

Thank you for this improvement, I jump back and forth between RD, Historical, Modern Day. This will improve two of the three ways I play, historical brings me endless hours of enjoyment plus learning about players that played before I was born in the fifties. Thank you again.

There is a lot of salary data on Baseball Reference player pages. What it doesn't have is what OOTP would need, which is the contracts underlying those salaries. I can look at Posada, for example, and see complete salary data. I can't see at what points he became a free agent or got an extension.
