Sonny Liston Replay

This is my first universe, hopefully you all enjoy. I'm replaying the career of Sonny Liston, using the historically accurate opponents, fight cards, dates, and venues for all fights. Where Sonny's opponents did not exist in the database, I created the ratings to the best of my abilities. I've been playing this game for a while, but am still new in the ratings department. Nonetheless, as accurate as this sim usually is, I'm excited to see where he ends up... Thanks for reading.

If I may suggest something... could you put up a "What Really Happened" section under results for comparison?

Welcome aboard mightycombover. This is a nice start that I'll be following.

Would you be willing to post anyfighter not in the DB that you've created for this uni? I'm probably not alone in wanting to see these guys.

BREAKING NEWS:

The trainers of highly touted young fighter Sonny Liston have announced that on the heels of his devastating first round knockout win last night, they have already secured another bout for him in just two short weeks!

JUST CONFIRMED!

September 17, 1953 - mark it on your calendar!

At Kiel Auditorium in St. Louis, Missouri, Sonny Liston (1-0, 1 KO) will step into his hometown ring against the much more experienced Ponce de Leon (10-18-4, 6 KO). De Leon's record may not be stellar, but he has fought a very high level of talent, and should give Liston a good idea of where he stands with a larger man that knows his way around a boxing ring. The rest of the card will be announced soon.

On the fighter's page there is a menu bar of the right hand side. You can export the the tcbx files to a folder of your choice and save them there.
I do this all of the time when I'm working on fighter files because I'm paranoid about losing unsaved data. I'll save the file through various stages of completion and eventually post the finished work in the mods section.

Wow, so simple. Gotta love that. Thanks. I'll upload the career replay pack along with the venues I created once I'm finished.

THIS JUST IN:

A report has just come in from the weigh-ins for tomorrow night's Liston-De Leon fight, that both men look great, and appear to be in tip-top shape; De Leon weighed in at 215 lbs., and Liston came in at an even 200 lbs. Both men were respectful, but short in an intense staredown.
Also announced was the finalized card, as there were many last minute shifts to the lineup during this last week. Scheduled for tomorrow night: (subject to change)

Bob Murphy (65-8-3, 56 KO) vs. Jimmy Welch (61-18-9, 13 KO) - 10 rds.
Sonny Liston (1-0, 1 KO) vs. Ponce de Leon (10-18-4, 6 KO) - 4 rds.
Foneda Cox (Pro Debut) vs. Charley Roberts (0-3) -
4 rds.
Jesse Brown (6-5, 3 KO) vs. Nate James (1-2-1, 1 KO) -
4 rds.
Sonny Jenkins (2-1, 2 KO) vs. Bobby Wilson (Pro Debut) - 4 rds.

It should be a good one!

Sonny Liston (1-0, 1 KO) vs. Ponce de Leon (10-18-4, 6 KO) - 4 rds.

Sonny Liston (1-0, 1 KO) vs. Ponce de Leon (10-18-4, 6 KO) - 4 rds.

In the co-main event of the evening, Heavyweight prospect Sonny Liston will step up in competition, and take on the experienced and durable Ponce de Leon. Both Liston and de Leon were said to be in tip-top shape, weighing in at 200 and 215, respectively.
De Leon, who is coming off a 4 round decision win over Dave Ragus that snapped a five fight losing streak, looks to use his 32 professional fights to his advantage, showing Liston how a veteran does it.
On the other side of the coin, Sonny Liston looks like a man possessed. His 57 second disposal of Don Smith was disturbing to say the least, and if the same man shows up tonight... We could be in for some serious action.

JUST SIGNED:

We have just heard that the young up and coming Heavyweight Sonny Liston has signed to fight his third professional bout.

November 21, 1953 at the Kiel Auditorium in St. Louis, Missouri, Sonny Liston (2-0, 2 KO) will face another young prospect in Memphis, Tennessee's own Bennie Thomas (5-1, 1 KO) in a 6 round bout.

Thomas is coming off a close decision loss, and looks to get back on track against the heavy-handed Liston. When asked what the training camp of Sonny Liston thought of Bennie Thomas, they simply replied, "Who?"
We will see soon enough what Thomas brings to the table. Stay tuned for more information on the rest of the card as it becomes available.

Sonny Liston has to be most fascinating of all the Heavyweight Champs. There is more controversy about his life, career and organized crime's manuevering of his career, is wish they'd finally get that movie they've been making about his life into the theaters.

Welcome to the Inside the Ropes Section .

REPORTING FROM KIEL AUDITORIUM

We are here at the weigh-ins for tomorrow night's event at Kiel Auditorium, here in the beautiful city of St. Louis, Missouri. We just watched Sonny Liston and Bennie Thomas step on the scales, and both appeared to be in great shape. Liston weighed in at a fit 198 pounds, while Thomas came in at just 184 pounds.
Now, Liston's camp assures us that he is training hard, and by the looks of it, they aren't lying. However, looks can be deceiving. His opponent, Bennie Thomas looks to be feeling fine, but I've been told otherwise. Rumor has it, he pushed a little too hard this last week trying to prepare for the power of Liston, and as a result is a bit drained. At 5-1, he is definitely Liston's biggest test to date, and we will see tomorrow night if the rumors are true! It should be a barn-burner!

Here is tomorrow's official card:

Bobby Bickle (16-1, 10 KO) vs. Jimmy Pitts (Pro Debut) - 10 rds.
Pierre Langlois (62-14-4, 13 KO) vs. Jesse Turner (33-12-5, 20 KO) - 10 rds.

I'm interested in your uni and will be following it all the way through.

As you know I'm running my own uni for this period---but in mine Sonny's in jail! So what you are doing is the missing piece of the picture--Although Sonny will be up for parole next year and still could appear in my uni.

You might want to sheck out the Mods section and take a look at the "Ratings of the Day Council". There are a number of revisions/alternate ratings of heavyweights (including Liston) that make a lot more sense, at least to me, than those that come from the "official" TBCB data base.

Take a look at them, and I think you'll like what you see. I've been using them for all of my sim fights in my "Partial Eclipse of the Sonny" uni.

Good luck with this project and welcome to the community!
