For Historical Players such as Ruth, Mays, Mantle, Clemente, etc....

Who determines or how is it determined, it said player, is a pull hitter, extreme pull hitter, etc...?

That's a fine photograph of Roberto Clemente, Jr.

These players are so old that no one remembers anything about them so they just guess.

The reason I ask was that:
I have a Clemente card that lists him as an extreme pull hitter. He was a spray Hitter.

His 1969 card has him listed as pull but from what I've seen he sprays. Decidedly, compared to ...say, most of Schmidt's hits.

I'm not sure, to tell you the truth, where they get their data for older players, but I laughed at the spontanaety of my response...and the fact that there is a statue outside PNC Ballpark of him, etc., plenty of info available, plenty of witnesses to baseball history if only second-hand for the REALLY old ones, they still have the darndest data even from the early days (out there) (somewhere) if not readily available to everyone, so I just laughed at loud at the way I responded with that line spontaneously.

I will say that when Jeter was my SS (even though he's a newer one) I felt like they did a fine job in the replays of replicating his trademark inside-out singles.

I think they've got Clemente right there when you cross the bridge, W. Stargell in front of the side entrance, H. Wagner in front of the main entrance, and then either Kiner or another take on Honus out sort of behind the stadium.

I ran into a guy when I was there, he goes "This place was hard (as hell) to build, man." ...AS if he had just finished up doing it himself or something, lol... Weird... Umm, Yeah, I was there last year. Almost went to a game. Kind of just walked around Pitt, up & down the river and checked out the stadium from the outside, though after getting off a bus.

Was just there - Mazeroski is the last statue around the stadium. Beautiful park, amazing location.

I am a little bias, but truly is one of the best of the newer stadiums. I have been to about 25 different stadiums, and have yet to find one that matches PNC. The one thing Pittsburgh has done right. I am not so enamored with Heinz Field, so it is not just a Pittsburgh thing. PPG Paints Arena is nice, but I have been to better arenas in the NHL. With PNC Park they really did it right. I recommend anyone who happens to be in the Pittsburgh area to take in a game at PNC Park.

Regarding the statues, Clemente statue is positioned at the Center Field
gate, first gate after crossing the Clemente Bridge, Stargell is at the next gate in left field, Honus wagner is at the gate by Home Plate. This statue was the original, as it was brought over from Three Rivers stadium. Finally is the statue of Bill Mazeroski at the gate in Right field.

It's amazing to me that Pittsburgh as a city has had such success across 3 major sports in its history. The Pirates had one of the baseball players in history in their early years, then had a great run in the 70s. The Steelers and Penguins have been even more successful, and some of that success was very recent. This despite Pittsburgh being a smallish city (although the metro area is top 30 size).

Hard to think of a city that's had more cross-sport success in North America. Boston comes to mind first, although much of that has been skewed by what's happened in this century. The two big cities in LA and New York have probably underperformed relative to their size. I realize there's more in the way of salary caps and parity in North American sports nowadays to keep the big markets from overrunning, but still.
