How do leagues work for this game?

I'm new to this particular type of game and was curious on how the online leagues actually work. How does one join a league? Where are they located at? etc

Almost all online leagues will advertise here in this very Online Leagues forum, so you can find them here.

These leagues have their own websites at their own addresses. There are three in my sig if you want to take a look at some examples.

When a league has an opening, you ask its Commissioner if you can fill the open spot. If you end up joining a league, you'll download a setup file to install into your OOTP9's "saved games" directory. You then go to your team within the game and make your management decisions and changes. After that, you "Export" your team file via the in-game function. The Commissioner installs your changes into his game and "runs the sim" by playing the games and performing other league activities. Then you "Load online league file" within your own game and that'll update your league, and the process begins again. Most leagues sim two to four times a week.
