Why would they trade Mike Trout?

I am in the 2023 season of the Midwest Baseball League, and this trade just went down on July 5.
The Cincinnati Skyline, whose 56-23 record ranks as the best in the league by nine games, have traded 31-year-old outfielder Mike Trout to the Grand Rapids Traders for a pair of minor leaguers OF Brandon Marsh, 25, and LHP Hugh Fisher, 24.
Skyline also is sending along $2.4M in cash.

It could be a salary dump, as Trout is pulling in $27.2M through 2026.

But Cincinnati isn't in any money trouble -- their budget space available after the trade is $40.5M -- and is in win-now mode.
Trout is no longer an MVP candidate, he is batting .250 with 22 homers and 65 RBIs, and is coming off a season where he hit .287 with 46 homers and 129 RBIs.
Marsh (2.5/2.5) and Fisher (0.5/3) have both been assigned to the Gulf Coast League.
George Valera, a 22-year-old outfielder (2.5/2.5) seems to be the heir-apparent to Trout's spot in the Cincinnati outfield.
My trade settings are hard and favor prospects.
Are they trying to sabotage their chances of winning the title?

The AI doesn't know names. Only numbers.

Still a crazy trade, because a team in "win now" mode shouldn't be dumping salary like that.

I have had to drop trades down to very low in the last 2 versions. Just too many bizzare trades where a team trades a 5 star guy for a 1 star pitcher and a 2 star prospect.
On very low I can easily scan the trades every month and see if something goofy has squeeked in, the rest are just trades teams needed to make.
If I find a team is overloaded at a position, I just go in and shop a player for them ,and make the trade for them. Things tend to run much more realistic taht way in my games

Change your settings to hard and neutral. That’s the settings I used and it seems to be the perfect balance to me.
